Unintended (Steve Harrington x OC)

Chapter 4

The time continued to go by swiftly, I had gotten to play some D&D with the kids over the next few months and I hung out with Jonathan some. I also spent time with Nancy and Steve, the four of us hung out a couple of times but things were still weird between Steve and Jonathan. I knew the reason but wouldn't say a word. Jonathan has a crush on Nancy. I asked him about it around Thanksgiving and he couldn't hide it from me. So mostly it was just me and Jonathan hanging out which I was fine with. We took the kids to do things too, Steve and Nancy had given Jonathan a new camera for Christmas to replace the one Steve broke. So I had mine back and we took photos of the kids. Scott came for part of his Christmas break and we got to hang out. He wasn't a fan of how much time I spent with Jonathan but I assured him that we were just friends. We hung out with Jonathan some of the time but also went on a double date with Steve and Nancy and it was the first one we had even been on. We had gone to see a movie together though we spent it mostly making out in the theater, the rest of the break wasn't very eventful and before I knew it the year was over, school started and the months went by without much happening. I played some D&D games with the younger boys when I wasn't spending time with my family. It was now coming up to spring break and I was excited because Scott was coming to Hawkins to spend it with me. I had offered to go to Virginia since he had come for Christmas but he said he'd rather come to me.

He drove rather than flying or taking a bus this time. Saying he wanted to have the freedom of going wherever we wanted without needing to borrow a car. The weekend that he arrived my dad was also able to get leave from the base to come home, so that was to be interesting. Scott was going to be staying at the house again and my dad was not thrilled with it but didn't push the matter as he trusted me to not do something stupid.

The second day Scott was there the two of us went out to see a movie with Steve and Nancy. We met them there, got our tickets and some things from the concession stand before finding our seats. It was a good movie and we decided that the next time the four of us get together we'll do it at Steve's place because he has a pool. So that is where we are midway through the break. Nancy and I had our feet in the pool while the guys went inside for drinks.

"So how long have you and Scott been together?" Nancy asked.

"It'll be a year this summer," I replied, smiling softly.

"So roughly the same as me and Steve then, that's kind of cool."

We talked a bit more about the boys and just girl topics in general until the boys came back out with cups. We were each handed one and then they sat on either side of us. The four of us talked a bit, before Nancy and I took the glasses back in the house and left the two of them outside.

"We should push them in," I whispered to her as we walked back out and she nodded.

We came up behind them and gave them a shove. Laughing as the two of them came to the surface. Scott splashed at me while Steve shook his head.

"Really Rachel? Do you have to corrupt Nancy?" Steve asked

"What makes you think it was my idea?" I was shocked at the accusation, he just raised an eyebrow.

Nancy and I laughed, the boys looked at each other then easily pulled themselves out and came our way. We panicked and began backing up hoping to make it inside before they reached us. No such luck, they were both athletic boys and quickly reached us. We were off our feet before we knew it, then Steve jumped in with Nancy while Scott just dropped me. I wiped my eyes free of water and stared up at him.

"Now we're even," he said as he knelt beside the pool.

"We're even," I replied, swimming over to kiss him.
