Chapter 47

October 1988

The time had come, after all the planning and waiting. The wedding was about to happen, it was the beginning of the week. Guests that came from a far would be arriving later in the week, Megan had just arrived this morning with her parents. Steve moved back into his parents for the week, his house becoming the place where myself and the girls would all be staying together. To do last minute details and just celebrate together. Everything was going so well and Hawkins was looking better and better each day. There was still a lot to be done with repairs but after a year it looked better.

The kids were no longer that, they were all seniors now and would be graduating the following year. I couldn't believe any of this, I had come to Hawkins five years ago. I did not intend on making any sort of friends or connections, thinking I would be gone in two years time. Then I did the opposite, I made friends that first year and bonded quicker than ever before due to sharing an experience with them. Then the unexpected happened, I fell for Steve Harrington. When we first met I couldn't stand his ass, he was a jerk and bully. He broke my friend's camera, took part in plastering that his own girlfriend was slut and got into a fight. The following year I saw a different side of him, he was changing. I fell head over heels for him. Now in a few days I will be his wife.

I walked into the house not expecting what was about to happen but I had voices shouting "surprise!" when I walked in the door with Emma. I picked her up from school and was bringing her here for the night.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"A party, to celebrate your last few days as a single woman," Nancy replied.

"Don't look at me, I was just to keep you busy until now" Emma said. "This was all your friends."

It was all the girls in the bridal party, my mom, nana and Steve's mom. Also included were the mothers of my friends. I was feeling very loved at that moment. Steve apparently was also receiving a party thrown by his friends. We sure were well loved, there was no question about it.

Friday came faster than expected, we were all together for the rehearsal. Things were going smoothly, my mom was already teary eyed and the ceremony was tomorrow. We were all mingling after dinner. I was standing with Nancy and Megan.

"Are all of the guys in Hawkins so good looking? I mean I feel like I am missing out," Megan said as she was eying Charlie.

"Not all of them, but there are a few," I replied. "Most are taken, though Charlie..he's single."

"Say no more."

Nancy and I laughed softly as Megan made her way over to where Charlie was talking with Steve and Jonathan. I sipped my drink and shook my head.

"Can you believe that five years ago this could have all turned out differently?" Nancy asked.

"Hard to believe it to be honest. At that time I wanted nothing to do with his ass," I replied.

"Whose ass are we talking about?" Robin came up asking.

"Steve, though not his ass just that he was one" Nancy replied.

"I mean he does have a nice one," I couldn't help but throw out.

"Girl doesn't lie," Nancy said.

The three of us then broke out laughing, here was Nancy and I talking about Steve's ass. Both of us have seen him naked, she is his ex and I am marrying him tomorrow. Robin, who had no interest in him, found it amusing that Nancy and I were being so casual about it.

"What's got you three cracking up?" Dustin came over and asked.

"Steve's ass," Robin replied.

"I wish I hadn't asked."
