Unintended (Steve Harrington x OC)

Chapter 33

We all were now standing in front of the abandoned Creel house. Steve and I were ripping the nails out of the board covering the front door after we all walked up to the house.

"What exactly are we supposed to be looking for in this shithole?" Steve asked.

"We're not sure. We just know this house is important to Vecna," Nancy replied.

"Because Max saw it in Vecna's red soup mind world?"

"Basically."

"Great."

"Maybe it holds a clue to where Vecna is. Why he is back and why he killed the Creels," Dustin said.

"And how to stop him before he comes back for Max," I said.

We finished pulling nails, pulled the board off and it hit the ground. Steve tried the doorknob and it was of course locked. Robin held up a brick saying she found 'the key'. I took it and threw it through the stained glass window on the door, Steve reached in and opened the door from the inside. We all stepped inside the house one by one and seeing as there was no electricity in the house pretty much everyone but Steve and I turned on flashlights.

"Where'd everyone get those?" Steve asked, looking at Dustin.

"Do you need to be told everything? You're not a child" Dustin replied.

"It sure seems like there was a memo that went out to which Steve and I were not given," I said.

Dustin shook his head and gave his backpack to Steve telling him back pocket before walking away. Steve took the bag and pulled out the remaining flashlight before dropping the bag on the ground.

"Guess you and I gotta stick together," I said as everyone began to separate and look around.

Max called everyone's attention to a clock asking if everyone else saw it which she got replies of yes from us all. The clock was the same as what she had seen in the visions. Nancy said that everyone should stay in groups of two, she took Robin upstairs while Lucas and Max went to look downstairs. Leaving me, Steve and Dustin. Dustin smiled at Steve as he stood next to him. I began walking up the stairs already and I heard Steve sighing behind me.

"Was that a sigh?" Dustin asked.

"No I did not sigh," Steve replied.

"Why'd you sigh?"

"I didn't sigh, just come on dude."

"I heard you."

"We're just always partners, okay?"

"You have a problem with that?"

"It'd just be nice to, I don't know, mix it up a bit."

"I'm boring you? Is that it?"

"No, the opposite."

"Rachel is with us again, I don't hear you complaining about her."

"That's different."

"Oh you'd rather be paired alone with Rachel is that it?"

"Will you two just stop and get up here already? I can't see much" I said, stopping near the top of the stairs and turned to look at them.

Steve reached me first and walked past me, I turned and followed leaving Dustin to come up behind me. We began to explore the opposite side of Robin and Nancy. Steve asked about what clues exactly we should be looking for and Dustin quoted Sherlock Holmes to him which just confused Steve. I was looking around a bit away from them as they talked and Dustin followed me to give me light while Steve was looking in another room. After a few minutes I went to find Steve to look around with him, I saw him walking away from Nancy and he smiled when he saw me. We began looking around then after some time we all gathered around a light that was flickering and realized that Vecna was in the Upside Down version of this house. Nancy said for everyone to turn off their flashlights and spread out, I stuck with Steve and we walked through the house until we heard Robin shouting. We then followed Steve's flashlight that was lit up to the attic when we lost the light but the one inside the attic was glowing so we went in. The flashlights started up again and we watched as they and the attic light just pulsed. We all returned to the Wheeler's before settling down to an un-restful night.
