I hid the note as soon as we got to the bedroom and he passed around the room cigarette hanging from his lips
"Thomas. Are you alright?"
He sighed blowing smoke across the room "I'm alright." He nods "I'm not angry or annoyed at you darling. No need to worry yourself" he says giving my head a kiss
"Would... It help if I left?"
"What?"
"I- I can go sleep in -"
"Darling no. I don't want you to go. In happy for you to stay here with me tonight, so long as you'd like that?"
"I would" I nodded "but... Maybe your family would be happier if I left"
"Left? I- I thought you wanted to stay with me?"
"I do but I don't want to cause issues"
"Ohhh Darling. They'll get over it. I want you to stay and I want you to be happy here. I don't care what they think. I want to be with you, I want you to stay, I want you to be happy, and I want these things above all else in this world."
"I do too I just... I worry they won't ever except me"
"Well, give them time. You'll discover my darling immortal beings can be terribly stubborn. Especially the order ones. But I am lord of the manor so maybe after our wedding and after you've... Gone though the process if they still won't except my lovely lady, well we can always kick them out of our lovely manor" he Cooes cuddling me closely throwing his cigarette out the window
"Our manor?"
"I am lord of the manor. And you'll be my wife and lady so, what's mine is you'rs darling"
"So if I said-" I began but he gave me a kiss
"I said I'd allow your renovations. Your changes. Whatever my lady wants I'll do my best to make her happy" he smiled "Come on let's get to bed"
I nodded trying not to blush as I went and changed into my nightie nervously climbing into the large soft bed beside him laying down on the pillow as he smiled at me
"This will be our first night in the same bed." He smiled playing with my hair
"It will. Unless you've snuck into my bed any other night?"
"Darling." He chuckled sounding fake offended "No. I was a good boy. I may have... Snuck in your room a night or two. Sat in the chair an watched you sleep so very peacefully but not your bed"
"You promise?"
"I promise"
"Okay" I smiled nuzzling close to him
"If we are ... being honest. I did... Sneak into your bed one morning"
"Oh?"
"But. You had already gone for your bath. So the bed was empty."
"So why where you in it?'
"It was your first night here. I couldn't help it. The heat and scent all over your sheets. I couldn't help myself."
"Can I ask you... Something personal Thomas?"
"Of course darling"
"You said vampires. Mate for life?"
"Yes. We do"
"But they only mate after marriage"
"Correct"
"After or before the process?"
"Usually after thought some can't wait that long."
"So... Given you and lillibeth never"
"Darling. Are you asking if... I'm still?"
"Yes" I blushed
"I am." He nods "have been an awfully long time. Partly why I'm as... Desperate as I am. What about you?"
"No" I blushed
"Well at least one of us has the experience then" he smirked giving my skin little kisses "but. Just because I haven't... Done that yet. Doesn't mean I'm utterly clueless." He smirked "six hundred years is a long time darling I've... Experimented. Just because we can't mate doesn't mean we can't do... Other things" he smirked
"Ohh? I see maybe tomorrow night well test that"
"I look forward too it. Come on let's get some rest"
I smiled and held him close getting cosy in our positions to sleep, and I quickly drifted off in his arms.
