Part 23

I glanced up seeing Thomas in a loose t-shirt and some shorts clearly he had slept in here and my arrival woke him.

"Ohh thank god!" I cried jumping into his arms 

"whoa- what on earth is the matter?"

I didn't answer merely crying hysterically into his shirt, but he didn't mind he held me close letting me cry until I had strength to speak

"There's something in the house" 

"What?"

"Something in the house! this horrible thing!" I cried

"Ohh darling" he cooed holding me close and stroking my hair "shhh shh shhh it's alright" He reassured

"No! it's not! that things running around the house!"

"It's okay darling, you probably just had a bad dream"

"It wasn't a dream it was real I know it was"

"Ohh darling, you must have had an awful nightmare," he says ushering me to the sofa 

"Thomas. I swear. by every god in this world. I saw something"

"What did you see?"

"It was awful. this huge horrible creature with these sharp teeth and horrid claws" 

"y/n, I did tell you this old house likes to give you a spook sometimes"

"a spook! Thomas I just got chased by a human-sized bat! I smelt its blood-covered teeth, I heard its horrid claws on the floor! why won't you believe me!"

"Okay. Maybe... it was a bad sleep paralysis or something, a human-sized bat is impossible y/n you must have just had a horrid nightmare"

"Couldn't you hear it? running around after me?"

"I haven't heard anything"

and I sighed "You're right. this old house must be driving me crazy"

"aww darling, you're not crazy. we all have a bad dream every once in a while" He says giving me a gentle kiss "I think you need to get some rest. that's all"

"Have you... ever seen that creature before?"

"No, must have just been my imagination"

"okay" he nods "How about you stay here with me tonight? I promise I'll keep you safe from any... big bats lurking around"

"Thank you, Thomas"

"It's no trouble, here" he smiled setting the sofa up with pillows and a nice warm blanket and tucking me in "there we go, all cosy and safe from the monsters" he smiled giving me a kiss 

I smiled and got cosy on the sofa, he moved to the chair by the fire turning it so he could see me "Aren't you going to sleep?"

"I have to keep you safe don't I? I'll take the first... bat watch" he chuckled

"It is alright-"

"sleep darling" he cooes "I'll be right here all night I promise"

 "Alright, goodnight thomas"

"Goodnight y/n" He smiled 

I turned and began to slowly drift off to sleep in the cosy blankets when he spoke up again 

"This... giant bat you saw. how big do you think it was?"

"It was just a dream, Thomas."

"Well I'm curious"

"about six feet maybe?"

"I see." He nods "Did you by any chance see its features"

"I saw enough" I sighed

"What were any defining characteristics did it have?"

"well it was a giant bat" I laughed

"But... patterns in fur? colour of its eyes? missing claws? crooked wing? tattered ear?... missing eye?" He suggested 

"Now you mention it. a scar" I muttered starting to fall asleep

"a scar?" he says and even if my eyes were closed and in my half-asleep state he moved closer to me "where?"
"It was just a silly nightmare Thomas" I yawned slowly drifting off 

"Y/n. what scar did you see?" He asked seeming rushed to get the answer from me 

"Ummm... scared eye. the left one" I said 

"Good, thank you darling." he says fixing my hair a little and kissing my temple and meer seconds before I feel asleep so much so I wasn't sure if it was a dream or reality "I'll deal with her in the morning, for frightening my little darling"
