AFTER MY HONEYMOON

chapter 37

Mia just had a few pills to take since the doctor had certified that she was alright. She soon freshened up and tied her hair up in a low bun.

 she picked up her contact case, about to put in her contacts but decided against it since she was in the suite anyway.... and even though she had been using contact lenses for a couple of years already, sometimes putting them on was always tiring to her.

Once she was sure she felt okay, she came out of the room and by now, Richard was already seated on one of the sofas with his laptop and a couple of files by his side.  Vivian had already left from what she observed and she didn't bother asking why she left and walked up to the fridge, took out a bottle of water and drank from it. She turned to look at him and his back was turned to her. He seemed to be reading through some files.

Richard looked like he was giving rapt attention to the files on his hand....but he was painfully aware of her presence...as a matter of fact, he was always aware of her presence. He was aware since she stepped out of her room. The scent she carried was intoxicating enough that he tensed up when she entered the room.

He had a lot of questions he wanted to ask...if she slept well, or if she had taken her pills in fact he just wanted to hear her speak. He noticed she walked up to the fridge to take a bottle of water.  He silently prayed that she would walk up to him and say something or even ask him anything.

Mia walked up to where he was seated and sat down opposite to him and he looked up to say something to her and coincidentally she was speaking at the same time and they both said "I".

He quickly dropped the paper he was holding and said "You can go first". His attention was fully on her now.

"I wanted to ask what.... you and Vivian were working on earlier". She asked clasping her hands on her laps.

"Ooh this? He asked raising the blue print on the table up... It's the blue print we drew some weeks back I want to construct a small model of the building and we were discussing materials to get to construct it".

"Ooh I see....can I help you with that? She interrupted.. Mr. wellington had also asked for a prototype". She cringed in her head after asking that...why on earth should she ask him that.

But she had already asked and besides, the places where he needed her the most was with the blue prints which they spent two whole weeks on.

They spent the next few hours going through the blue print again and selecting materials for building the prototype. And since she had to take her pills again they ordered for their meal to be brought up. Richard had placed the order after asking what she would prefer. They ate together in silence and they eventually both retired to their rooms.

Even though Mia refused to admit it, deep she liked that they worked together giving their opinions to each other when necessary and that too in such comfortable silence without any annoying interruptions namely Vivian and Dominic.

It was around 11pm and Mia still couldn't sleep... she kept tossing and turning and decided to go to the living room space in the suite...luckily for her she had packed some of her favorite books and although she had read them a couple of times, they usually came to her rescue when she had trouble sleeping at night. She had just started reading when a call came in.

"Hii girl how have you been". Came Anita's voice through the phone.

"I've been great...you haven't called in a long time how's Thomas and kelvin ?".

"They are both fine...called to say hi and I sent some files to you via email I was hoping you could check and give me your feedback please baby girl....it's for a presentation tomorrow at work and my boss will have my head if I don't have it ready".

"Alright...I will get back to you". She said standing up and walking to her room to get her laptop and smiling.

"Thanks babe you are a life saver". She said squealing.

Mia spent the next two hours at most, looking at her laptop screen and she was able to help Anita in the end...and they both did some catching up as well.

She still wasn't really feeling sleepy and decided to continue reading the book she had covered earlier to speak to Anita.

By the time Richard woke up, it was around 3am and he suddenly felt very thirsty and it didn't also help that he dreamt of Mia as well. He simply cleared his eyes, got down from his bed, and walked to out of his room to get water.

He didn't notice her at first and walked straight to the fridge took out the water and drank a generous amount from it. By the time he dropped the bottle and turned around, his eyes simply led him to her direction. And once again he found himself walking towards her. 

He got to where she was, and stooped down...now starring at her... she was beautiful indeed but this moment reminded him of Lillian...he remembered a moment like this had happened where he asked her such an unreasonable question...he cursed himself everyday for what he did...he was almost in tears now looking at her and reminiscing that day but then his attention was drawn to her glasses and he smiled to himself...they indeed have a lot of similarities.

He slowly moved his hand towards her glasses and decided to pull it out for her since he figured that it would hurt her if she were to sleep with them on or better still end up breaking the glasses. He had successfully pulled the glasses when she suddenly opened her eyes and he looked like he was caught doing something wrong. They both starred at each other for a while and the only thought in his mind was the fact that her eyes looked so much like Lillian's... in fact he suddenly felt like he was starring into her eyes.

They only snapped out of it when the book fell to the ground, which attracted their attention and he slowly stood up and stepped back while she got up from the sofa as well. He quickly handed her glasses to her and tried to explain his actions "Umm...umm the glasses might have broken if you decided to sleep with them on".

"Yeah.. umm...thanks". She took them from him and went straight to her room she didn't even bother picking the book up.

LA TERRA had made an announcement about their decision to build a 7 star hotel in London and each company represented  in the ARCHITECT CON was going to present a proposal, on the structure as well as design and the one with the best or the one that was to the liking of the directors of LA TERRA, would be awarded the contract.

Mr. wellington had called Mia the very next day the very day the announcement was made and told her to work with Richard in pitching the proposal along side Dominic since they had both signed a partnership agreement.

But amidst all this, they still had fun they had even visited NIAGARA FALLS which was one of the priced tourist attraction, in Ontario and it was magnificent indeed... Mia was especially enthralled by it.  They had also visited the museum, as well as an aquarium. But the tension concerning the contract was never forgotten in the midst all the fun.
