AFTER MY HONEYMOON

chapter 33

Richard had a look of confusion and a little bit of shock on his face.

"Sorry?". Mia said clutching tightly to the water bottle in her hands. she could literally feel all the hairs on her skin stand at attention with her heart racing speedily....all while still trying to keep a straight face.

"I'm sorry I didn't know you used lenses as well". Richard said after a while...he felt stupid because of the look of confusion she gave to him...how could he call her Lillian...

"Ooh yeah I only wear it at night you see ..I....I  use contacts during the day". She said adjusting her glasses on her face and averting her gaze.

"And..your....your eyes they are very beautiful". He said taking a step further in her direction involuntarily and starring into her eyes.

"They....". Just before he could finish his statement, they both heard a knock on the door. "That should be the food". He said leaving her and walking up to the door, to open it.

Opening the door, he left the staff in who was carrying a tray of the food he ordered a little earlier, he collected the food from him, and locked the door. By the time he turned she was already gone so he quickly set down the food on the table and decided to ask if she would like to eat .

He hesitated a bit before knocking on her room door.

"Umm".- he said then cleared his throat and continued "miss Stewart...". He finally knocked on her room door.....he had knocked twice before she opened the door just a little that it was only her face he could see. Looking at her again, her eyes still startled him and he cleared his throat once more before asking "I ordered enough food for the both of us  would you like to eat with me?".

"No...I'm not hungry.....I'm feeling rather sleepy". She whispered and stifled a yawn. she was actually genuinely tired or so she thought.

"Ooh alright.. goodnight then". He said putting his hands together behind his back.

Right after Richard left, Mia closed the door and rested her back on it...breathing out softly...she was  shocked when he said Lillian.. she didn't even know what to do at that moment....but it seemed he thought he was mistaken. Even though she was relieved that he didn't recognize her at the same time, she couldn't help but still feel a little sad that he didn't recognize her....but then again how could he... her face and identity had completely changed...and these were the things that took her a lot of time for her to come to terms with.

She was also starving she hadn't eaten anything much today...but she also wasn't ready to see him again at least not tonight....since she couldn't forget the look on his face right after he called her Lillian.

Richard wasn't able to eat much either but just a few morsels of food and called them to come pick up the plate and he decided to go to bed...he tossed and turned and it seemed he wasn't getting any sleep so he in the end, stood up and walked to the window and folding his arms, he rested just by the window pane and looked outside....one would  probably think he was observing the city or the people that were below but his thoughts were else where.

It wasn't enough that he found himself so attracted to her....and now her eyes?....after seeing them he wasn't sure he was going to sleep this night.... because he hadn't even closed his eyes yet and they were already hunting him.

They strangely reminded him of Lillian's eyes....her eyes had the same rich violet colour Lillian's eyes had...it was so uncanny that he didn't even know when he blurted out Lillian's name. But then again she looked nothing like his Lillian and even though he swore to never feel anything more for another woman,...his feelings are beginning to waver seriously and he was starting to get really scared.

Scared because, this wasn't supposed to happen....scared because he felt he would be betraying Lillian...after all he did to her, he didn't think he had the right to have any romantic feelings or even be remotely attracted to anyone....and things have been going fine that is until Mia came. He wasn't even supposed to be here sharing the same suite with her... Nelson was supposed to be here  Instead but then again would he have been alright with the fact that Nelson could have potentially shared this suite with her?.....the answer is surely no since he also recently found that he was also starting to get very possessive....and this was one of the reasons why he was scared of not only this woman, but himself as well. But then again how could he doubt Nelson the man had a pregnant wife for goodness sake he was starting to think there was seriously something wrong with him.

The very next morning, they were scheduled to go to the zoo for site seeing but that would be after the seminar. The seminar lasted for about an hour before the speaker dropped the mic. There was already a bus which was going to convey them to the zoo.

 Richard hadn't seen much of Mia at least not until they began boarding the bus.... she had probably left the room before him because there was no sign of her when he woke up and got ready and  involuntarily, his eyes sort for her right after he entered the room they had used for the seminar.....and right where he was seated, there was an open seat just right beside him which was later occupied by his secretary Vivian.

Vivian was supposed to attend the ARCHITECT CON with Nelson but it seems he had to attend in his place and although, she told him she arrived late since her flight was delayed her room had already been booked...Vivian had a habit of rambling on and on....most bosses would usually be strict with their employees to the point of being unapproachable although, while he was a very flexible and understanding boss, he made sure that everyone was on their best behavior at work and not slacking In any way.

 while it was time for them to get into the bus that would take them to the zoo, he had gotten in and found a comfortable place by the window where he sat and not quite long after he was seated, Vivian walked in and towards his seat smiling, greeted him and sat down right beside him...and soon after she entered the bus, Mia entered as well and walked right past them to the back and made herself comfortable.

The bus began to move and everyone was already settled...it was quite a big bus and she went to seat at the back to avoid Dominic.

she had left the room quite early since she didn't want to run into Richard....she was also jetlagged since she didn't get much sleep the previous night..so she got ready and left and because she arrived quite early, she was in the seminar room for quite some time, before other people began joining her....she was on her phone when she felt someone seat beside her and looking up, she realized that it was Dominic....she tensed up and when he greeted she just gave a stiff smile in return and returned back to her phone.

He kept asking her questions every now and then and she breathed a sigh of relief when the seminar began.. because then he wouldn't  be able to talk to her... She noticed when Richard entered and noticed a woman that walked in not quite long after and joined him.... and her eyes trained every now and then to their direction even when she didn't want it to.

Luckily for her, Dominic wasn't going to go to the zoo with them which she was very thankful for...she wanted to be by herself which was why she decided she would seat at the back.

Her attention was unintentionally again, drawn to Richard and the woman who she guessed was his secretary since she had seen her a couple of times when they were still working on the blue print. Vivian tried to make small talk with Richard and he answered a few times but told her that he was tired and needed to rest his head and when he closed his eyes he was once again hunted by those eyes he had seen last night...he was in a bind right now and he didn't even know how to get out of it.
