The two men proceed to Hank's car to where Connor could now call his home.
*Connor's POV*
He watched as Hank's pale gruff hands turned the key in the ignition to start the car, heat quickly blasting for Hank so he could warm himself and begin his way home. The ride is mostly silent so far as Connor looks out the window fidgeting with his coin in his pocket; aware not to pull it out to play with it as it distracts Hank. He begins to think about everything that's happened that got him to where he is now. It almost doesn't feel real sometimes. Every decision.. gave me this. What if I'd shot those two girls at the Eden Club, or ended up killing Markus, or never saved Hank.. he shook his head, he didn't want to think of that outcome. Still though all these things I did were good but I ended up failing, making mistakes, not being good enough for what I was made for. What if.. I'd never be good for this new life either, what if I fail at that?
Hank notices Connor's led flashing yellow to red; "Ah Con, your uhm your led thingy- are you okay?" His voice filling with concern for the android sitting across from him hands now anxiously sitting in his lap.
"Yes.. Hank I apologize, I was just in thought." Not convinced he presses on, "Hmm you know you can talk to me about anything Connor, I'm here to help; you don't have to be alone anymore." Connor suddenly sees a pop up of choices
1. [Tell Hank the truth]
2. [Lie to him]
3. [Avoid]
4. [Stay Silent]
He reluctantly chooses 1. Tell Hank the truth and sighs "Can I ask you a personal question, Hank?"
"Oh, we're back to this again?" Hank jokes.
"No. I- I called you Hank this time." Connor states a bit flustered. "I'm kiddin Con, go ahead." Connor begins rubbing his hands.. "Do you ever feel like you're not good enough, like a failure or mistake, possibly?" Dejectedly Connor asks trying to phrase the question delicately not to make it seem this is how he views the Lt. while still struggling, feeling confused at his emotions at the moment. "Ha!" He abruptly laughs loudly. "Shit, have you met me Con? That's literally my life daily." He continues to laugh as Connor's face noticeably drops. Hank realizes this may not be the time. "Do you think I'm a- a failure?" Connor's voice is meek and shy as he slightly looks too Hank before turning away slowly seemingly embarrassed. "Connor.." his voice trails off as he pulls his car in front of his house and sees Connor motioning out of the car door quickly, clearly trying to avoid what he'd just asked hoping it was just forgotten. He was mistaken; as Hank quickly follows Connor placing a hand on his shoulder. "Don't be so hasty, you're able to ask me whatever." He motions for Connor to follow him inside. "And be prepared for-"
WOOF, WOOF!!
Hank's interrupted by a huge ball of brown, black and white patched fur jumping into his arms and quickly moving to the Android shuffling in behind him.
"Sumo get down!" Hank's swifts his hand down calling Sumo with no response but to continue attacking the android who was now on the floor being attacked with kisses.
"Down Sumo, calm down." Connor calmly states behind his smile as he pets and pushes Sumo off who proceeds to walk over to his food bowl, sounds of the dog kibble in the bowl being munched on quickly fill the home as Hank proceeds to take his jackets and shoes off. "Wish he'd calm down that easily with me." He looks to Connor who is now standing aside watching Hank, "You uh, you can make yourself at home." Connor realizes he's expected to do something and begins to slowly remove his jacket and shoes as well seeming to understand that's what Hank wanted as he watches him go into the kitchen open the fridge; grabbing a beer, and taking a huge swig before Connor can even say anything.
*Hank's POV*
"Look Con, first why do you think you're a failure. I mean look at you!" He gestures to all of Connor. "You're strong, intelligent, loyal; not to mention you look flawless." He takes another huge swig, finishing off one beer before grabbing another. "You were made to overcome many challenges, make decisions, help people, accomplish great things-" "Exactly!" Connor exclaims rapidly interrupting Hank and moving closer to him, his led now flashing bright yellow. "I was made to be all of that and I chose decisions that ended up giving me all of this, which I'm grateful for; yet I was made to accomplish missions and to never fail and all I did was fail to get here and failing in situations is not always probable for success so what if I- I fail what I have now.. make mistakes and am not able to accomplish anything or help others anymore?" Connor's voice slips out more emotion than he would've liked; looking away from Hank showing his now soft yellow led. He looks so defeated right now, I'm not sure where all of this came from.. I just hope I know what to say. "Life isn't set in stone Con, none of us know what's the best thing to do in the world anymore." He mumbles to himself, "That all went downhill in 2020." Hank shakes his head remembering the absolute chaos of that year. <LOOKING AT ALL THE TOILET PAPER HOARDERS> "We all make mistakes, sometimes we do fail and that's okay. You won't have to deal with it alone. It does not make you a bad person and it doesn't make you undeserving of anything. It doesn't define you, Con meaning it does not make you a failure." His voice soft but stern as he stumbles over to Connor who can tell he's already drunk with only a few beers in; now placing his hands once again on Connor's shoulders. "You're a good person, Connorr, I'm positive you alwayss will be." His voice starting to slip sounding tipsy as he quickly lets go of Connor and moves back. "And I mean that- I'm not just s ssaying that cause I'mm- I'm drunk!" He waves the bottle around before Connor places his hands around his waist slightly. "The fuck Con-" Hank's face slightly warmed. "I'm just seeing you to the couch Lieutenant." Connor nods and states innocently. "And thank you Hank.. I will keep your words in mind. Also I don't think you are a failure either, at all." He smiles to his Lt. softly sitting him down and proceeding to take a seat beside him, turning on the t.v.
A couple hours pass with mostly just watching television Connor notices Hank is basically out of it. Turning off the t.v. he stands up and decides if he should
[Carry Hank to his room]
[leave him]
[lay him down] l
Noticing Hank's response to him just barley touching his waist earlier he decides to lay Hank down slowly instead not leaving his head to be slumped over the back of the couch. Sumo jumps up on the couch to take Hank's original spot and lay over his legs. Connor smiles warmly at the sight below him and covers Hank up petting Sumo before walking to the chair to put himself into a dormant state. He didn't technically need sleep or actually even fall asleep. Just deactivates/shuts off for any amount of time, but figuring Hank would appreciate that over him just staring off into the distance while he slept he shuts his eyes, the inviting living room around him fades to dark and everything is silent.
