Nines noticed his concern, "Well I'm glad I could be of some assistance. Now if you'll excuse me I've been told I need to "make up" with Dt. Reed by Officer Chen's requests and I don't want to tune out more lecturing." Hank shook his head and just as he was about to leave he's stopped again.
"Hank! Wait up!" A man's voice called out.
"JESUS! Do I have a 'talk to me' sign on my back or some shit?!" Hank partially joked. "Sorry to bother you Lieutenant. We just needed to know where Connor is for question-" Chris started to explain but Tina elbowed him. "For um.. a question about Nines." Chris nodded as Tina awkwardly smiled. Hank wanted to ask if they really thought he believes them but was just too tired to question anything anymore with his colleagues at this point. "I was mostly joking but he's in the car. Word of advice though, work on your lying." He smirked and walked to the car to let Connor know.
Connor's POV
(takes place as he's sitting in the car a little bit before Hank comes)
Connor sat in the car straightened up and stiff; waiting and watching as the rain trickled down the windshield. As a minute or two passed he grew impatient; he decided to send Markus a message. I haven't talked to him since he told me that Simon and him were finally together. He sounded really happy and hopeful about it which makes me very happy for them both.
I hope they're all doing okay.

Markus 🧑🏾‍🎨💚
time pm

Hey Markus, I hope you are all doing good. I know it's been a little bit since we saw each other and I was wondering if there was a day you weren't busy I could stop by?

Connor, it's very nice to hear from you again! Absolutely you can just name a day, thankfully we're taking a free day break from interviews and planning our next protest. I needed to talk to you anyways.

Alright! How about next Tuesday around 3?

Works for me. See you then Connor!
. . .

I don't quite understand why Amanda is still a reoccurring problem for me. I escaped my programming, Nines accepted deviancy and denied her and he's perfectly fine.. why? I mean I don't want him to feel like this either but I don't get it. Is it because I'm not strong and resilient enough? Maybe that's why I showed so many deviant behaviors before. Looking back on it, I seemed to be a pretty useless machine. Connor's shoulders dropped as he relaxed his body while a soft smile crossed his face filled with a slight laugh. His smile faded though as his vision blurred and tears started falling from his eyes as he felt the irritation and sadness overwhelm him. Despising this power she still held over him and hating the fact he felt so alone with her. He just wished he could shut it all down. I.. want to live like Hank, I don't want to be a useless machine! I hate how foreign their.. our emotions feel for me. Connor sighed and wiped his face trying to regulate his system again. He couldn't help but think of Hank too. Knowing he feels emotions to such an extreme they cause him to want to kill himself.. Connor could only hope he helped him a little with that.
Finally he saw him walking out which caused his led to shift from yellow slowly to blue. He was happy they could finally go home. Hank opened the door and sat down tiredly, he didn't even know what to say as he sighed softly, "Hey Con, before we go Tina and Chris needed to speak with you." Connor worried they had told him and tried to stay calm so his led wouldn't change. "Oh, okay. Did they say why?" Hank just shook his head and smiled. "No but they are pretty bad liars though." Connor had nearly forgotten he was supposed to give them a statement from earlier and sighed. "I apologize Lieutenant for causing you to be here longer. You can head home without me, I can-" "Oh just shut up and hurry back. You worry too much about upsetting me." Hank smiled softly and nudged him out. Connor stepped out; heading back into the building towards their desks. "Heard you both tried lying to Hank." Connor sarcastically made known. Chris greeted him, "Connor great you're here! We promise this won't take long at all!" Tina chimed in "And we're sorry it took until the last minute, we had a busy day because of the interview Markus held today. Also don't hold that shit against us, he's higher up than us." Connor stares, waiting for her to continue. "...And he's intimidating." Chris nods slightly in agreement and smiles." Connor shakes his head. Then while recalling something they said, his LED changes yellow. "You said you were held up due to an interview with Markus, why? I understand humans and androids still have tension between them but I've visited Jericho and Markus assured finding a place where they'd be safer." "Yeah but this was something else I haven't seen as an issue in a while but I guess because of it being an android and human relationship but still." Chris explain as Tina gives her opinion on the matter. "It doesn't matter. They are free right, and they obviously feel just like we do so it's obviously not impossible." Connor's curiosity was peaked more as his LED now flashes as he admits, "I didn't see this interview." Chris half-laughs and explains. "Why doesn't that surprise me. You can find it on any news station now I'm sure but basically Markus is dating some guy but that wasn't the thing they cared about. It was when he brought other couples into it that live at the 'New Jericho' and one pair was an android and human relationship and people are just rioting over it." Displaying visible annoyance Connor shook his head; changing the subject. "Anyways tell us everything that happened earlier today?"
*
time skip because we were all there with him for that🥺
*
"Well that certainly was a lot to experience but if it wasn't for you it could have went so much worse." Tina tried to help and he knew she was right; there was just a longing feeling to wish that he could do more. "I know, thank you Officer Chen. What will happen to the assailant?" Chris rubbed his head, "Well there aren't many policies in place yet for android related crimes, so he'll get what we refer to as 'a slap on the wrist'." "Meaning he probably won't stay more than a night or two in a holding cell." Tina explained as he nodded his head. Connor was about to leave but had something he wanted to ask. "Oh, what happened with Gavin and Nines today?" Tina glared with an obvious expression, "When are they not at each others throats? Wasn't long ago you and Hank were the same way; maybe they'll come around or fall in love." Tina slightly joked while Connor was taken aback, "What do you mean fall in love?" She laughed, "Oh come on! We can all see it rather they do or not is a mystery to me." She didn't specify who specifically she was referring to figuring Connor could take a hint she didn't just mean Gavin and Nines. Collecting all their things and following him out the door Chris got his attention. "I have a question for you too Connor. With all the android relationship drama circling now and the display earlier today I'm curious of something. Could you imagine a human and an android together more specifically you?" Connor paused, he felt like he should be aware if this was a trick question or not; though the fear of upsetting Hank if he said the wrong thing kept him from saying anything at all. Suddenly the memory of Hank reassuring him earlier plays causing him to smile though that didn't aid in his decision. Truly he just wasn't sure anymore. "I guess not.."
So desperately though I want to ask why it even matters and what the difference really is if I said yes instead.

Author's Note ✍🏻💕
Woo there's a lot of tension rising between everyone but I'm excited because it's all coming around just like I wanted it too and I'm just so excited for the future of this story. Once it's finished I have plans for more stories involving them and other DBH characters you've seen here and how I want to expand this story outside of Wattpad!
