•Chapter- 21•

"I suspect Viraat is involved in this. That bastard can stoop really low if his ego is bruised. Arvi gave it left and right to him, you threatened him and he may want revenge" Taran said.

"I know. It could be Viraat. Fuck it I have a strong feeling it's him. I am going to castrate that asshole" Ray said agreeing with Taran.

"Not just castrate Bhai, that fucker should be tortured. How dare he target Abheer Bhai" Ehaan seethed.

I looked at them and I can see how tense and in a rage they three are. We brothers have always been like this. You cross one, you cross all of us.

"I suspect it's Viraat too but we won't know that for sure yet. Parth is on his way with the details so calm down three of you" I said and the three huffed.

As much as I am furious with the stupid attack, I also know Viraat alone is not capable of it. Viraat, though an asshole, I know won't stoop too low for a murder attack. Getting them beaten? Yes. Murder? No. He is too scared of that shit.

I have an inkling it's either Viraat is involved with someone else or it's a different person altogether. I could be wrong and that's why I don't want to jump to any conclusions yet until the details come. My private investigator is getting me the details as we speak.

I heard a knock and looked up.

"Come in" I said and we four straightened up.

Parth came in with a file in his hand and he passed it to me. I opened it and read the details.

"Rakesh Mehta" I looked up at Parth in question and he nodded.

"Rakesh Mehta came into town the day your attack took place. It's no coincidence. The men who were there were also Rakesh's men. Since Ravikant Mehta is a trusted man we never looked into Rakesh. The brothers have separated long back and met for the sake of their relation. Rakesh has been into some illegal stuff and I don't know the clear motive but I suspect he wanted to kidnap you for money or something else. I doubt Ravi Sir knows about this" Parth said and Taran scoffed.

"That man always looked shady. Why the fuck would he do that?" Taran said shaking his head.

"Exactly! Ravi Uncle is such a nice person. How come his brother turns out like this? Bhai, should we inform this to Ravi Uncle?" Ehaan said and I shook my head.

"What are you thinking Abheer?" Ray asked coming up to me.

"Ravi Uncle don't know this. We know how he is. If he gets to know two things will happen. One, Ravi Uncle will feel extremely bad and Two, he will confront his brother. Which will lead to him getting alerted. We still don't know the motive behind the attack. It could be any number of things. And the goons could have been hired by anybody else to do the attack. We don't know if Rakesh Mehta gave the orders" I said getting up.

"So we just sit silent bro?" Ray asked, anger evident in his tone. I know where he is coming from so I patted his shoulder and said.

"No Ray, we don't sit idle. Taran, increase the security. Ehaan, keep track of where everyone in the family is going and about them coming back. Ray, I need you to look into Rakesh Mehta more and see if there is any past history with the family. Take Parth's help. Mom said the engagement is in two weeks. That means more access to Rakesh Mehta to attack if he is in real, the one behind all of this. I will track Rakesh's moves from now on. For now, we keep this all under the wraps and work. No one outside this room should get to know about this" I said and the four nodded.

"Bhai, are we not telling this to the gang? You know Arvi Di is going to come at you if you don't" Ehaan said and I sighed.

"I want to tell her.....and I don't want to as well. The choice is not about whether she should know. It's just whether I want to tell her. But I also don't want Arvi to know all this and get involved. You know how she is. Heck, you know how all the girls are? They will be extra vigilant and go for war" I said rubbing the back of my neck.

"I know bro. But telling them is better than facing their wrath. We just have to make sure that we calm them down and tell them to not act rash" Ray said and I nodded.

I don't know the motive or what Rakesh Mehta wants. He already got to me but I'll be damned if I let him get to my family.

"Where is this Abheer? Why isn't he picking up his calls!?" I mutter calling him again as I look at Sia. Her eyes are glued to the book and she looks up at me. We both just sigh and I looked away not knowing what to say.

What can I even say after reading that book? That letter......

"Di, Bhai came. He is downstairs" Tara said coming into the room and I sighed relieved that he is here.

"Get everyone inside right now. Call Avi in here too. I need to discuss something very important" I said and she looked at me confused but maybe the seriousness in my voice made her nod her head and do what I said.

"I fear the consequences when they get to know Arvi. Especially him" Sia said looking up, her eyes moist and I closed my eyes, feeling myself get dizzy.

Soon enough the guys, Avi and Tara came in and I immediately went and locked the door.

"Good thing we gathered here now we need to tell you guys something" Ray said and I showed him my hand indicating for him to stop.

"Before that, I need to tell you guys something" I said rather tense.

"Arvi, this is important. It's about the attack we got to know who did it. It's Rakesh Mehta. Ravi Uncle's brother" Taran said and my body went still.

I looked at Sia as I felt myself stiffen even more. She stood up from the bed shocked and I gulped.

"No" I whispered and held my head. Abheer immediately came to me and held me.

"Baby, what's wrong? You don't look fine. What happened?" He asked concerned and I looked up at him. Fuck.....this is getting worse. What the fuck is happening?

"Guys, we need to tell you something. It's...." I got cut off as Ray went to my bed and frowned.

"This is Mom's album. And what's this book with her name on it?" He asked and Sia and I stared at each other. We are doing that a lot right now. I nodded at her and she nodded back at me.

"Navya Aunty's......book. We got to know something about the day she died" Sia started looking at Rayaan.

"What is it?" Taran asked coming forward, her face growing tensed. I closed my eyes and felt my heart beating fast and I said this.

"It wasn't an accident. It was murder. And Rakesh Mehta was involved in that"
