As usual the Black Bulls were late to the ceremony. Your squad arrived at the same time as William's, both of you arriving first. This was the first formal event you had to attend since becoming the Captain of your squad. It still felt so weird to say that. 'Your' squad. It was always your captain's squad. You never saw it as anything more than that. It's why you always defended the honour of the squad. To protect your Captain's name. You had three mages up for awards today: including Zenon. William had two, Fuegoleon two, Nozel one, and Charlotte one. You weren't sure how many Yami had because he was late. Again. It irked you how he would willingly behave like this. To be Frank, it disgusted you. He acted like this all meant nothing- that being a Captain was nothing but a game to him.
Members from the Golden Dawn, Crimson Lion Kings, and Silver Eagles lined the right side of the walkway, while members from the Blue Rose Knights and your squad lined the left side. Marx stood beside Julius up the front behind the table clad in red, waiting to start the ceremony. "Sorry we're late!" Yami called out lazily, all of you turning back to look at him. Secre, Noelle, and Finral were standing behind him. So those were the three from his squad. "Must you always enter so brashly?" Nozel scoffed; rightfully so. Yami scratched the back of his neck, "jeez. Get off my case, bird boy." Nozel glared at him. You turned away, choosing to ignore his antics. If you didn't, you'd punch him. "It's okay, Yami; maybe work on it though. At least you're here now. Let's start the distinguished service ceremony" Julius announced with a smile.
Marx stood on Julius' left, holding the awards out for him. "With a total of nine stars, from the Crimson Lion Kings squad, I invite up Leopold Vermillion." Julius called. Leopold walked forward and stood on the red cloth draped over the floor. "Congratulations, you're now a Senior Magic Knight Second Class" Julius turned and picked up the award as he spoke, before turning back to face Leopold. Leopold took the award with his usual grin plastered onto his face. "You're certainly going to give your brother a run for his money soon enough" Julius encouraged. Leopold laughed loudly, "I can only hope to!" Fuegoleon shook his head slightly; his brother was certainly boisterous as usual.
"Also from the Crimson Lion Kings squad, with seven stars, Stella Edevane." An older woman glad in a soft yellow and orange outfit, sporting the Crimson robe approached Julius. Julius handed her the award, "I hereby bestow upon you the rank of Intermediate Magic Knight, First Class. Your Cloud Magic is certainly a sight to behold, I must admit." Stella took the award with a thankful smile, "thank you for the compliment, sir. I don't think it's a wonderful as you make it out to be though." Stella walked away from the table, heading back to her place at Leopold's side in front of Fuegoleon. You didn't miss the little high-five the two shared.
Julius took the next award from Marx's hands. "Next, with a total of three stars, from the Blue Rose Knights, Puli Angel." Julius continued on. Puli walked out from where she stood and up to Julius, stopping on the red cloth, just like Leopold and Stella. "I grant you the rank of Intermediate Magic Knight, Third Class. You voice as lovely as your magic as usual" Julius told her as he handed the award to her. "Thank you, sir!" Puli almost sung. You unnotably cringed at the unpleasing sound of her high-pitched voice. You dreaded to know what it would sound like if actually sang; the thought making you feel nauseous. Julius complimented everyone even if there was no reason to. You failed to see how he would give people a false sense of belief in themselves. They weren't everything he said they were.
Julius picked up the next award up from Marx, again. "Now with a total of six stars, from the Silver Eagles, Solid Silva" Julius continued on. Solid walked up to the red cloth from in front of Nozel. "I grant you the rank of Senior Magic Knight, Fifth Class. Keep working hard. Although you could afford to be a little nicer to your comrades, don't you think." Solid took the award with a smug smirk, "I'll try my best, sir. Your words are always well thought out." He was a smug little bastard. He wouldn't even remember what Julius said in five minutes. His family irritated you. They thought they were the best just because they were royalty.
