It didn't take long for the Black Bulls to join you outside, they all seemed pumped up and excited. While the numbers were unfair, your mages were under skilled compared to them. Yet they all still seemed so confident in their own abilities. This would be an interesting match. All of the rookies from your squad, verses the fewer yet far more skilled veteran mages of the Black Bulls. Yami came out, standing beside you in front of everyone, smoking a cigarette, as usual. Nacht came up through his shadows, nodding at both you and Yami. He'd hidden the flags at each end of the forest. "Alright. Listen up. I'm only saying this once." You began, your voice only a fraction louder than normal.
"This will be a squad-on-squad battle between the White Wolves and the Black Bulls. Each squad has the opposing teams flag hidden somewhere in the forest, the only people who know where are Yami, Nacht, and myself. It's a basic goal, return to Yami and myself with your teams flag, and you win. The match begins, when you've be teleported to the flag your team must defend via Nacht's Shadow Magic. There is a border around the forest made up of Shadow Magic, you are not to leave the boundaries, or your squad will be immediately disqualified, and the opposing squad will win. You are permitted to use any abilities at your disposal so long as you do not fatal harm one another. Do you all understand?" "Yes sir!" You couldn't help the small smirk the appeared on your face for a split second. "Alright then." Yami looked to Nacht, "Nacht?" Nacht nodded, the two groups immediately disappearing into the shadows beneath them.
Once they were gone, you threw a magic item up into the sky above the forest, dropping a second one on the ground. Multiple holograms of the different squads and their members appeared in front of you out of thin air. "It'll be interesting to see how the White Wolves handle my idiots! We've got this in the bag!" Yami laughed. Nacht glanced at Yami out the corner of his eyes, "don't discount the White Wolves skills Yami. I think it'll be a close call." "You've seen the Black Bulls, Nacht. Rookies from his squad don't stand a chance." Yami flicked his thumb your direction. He wasn't wrong. The Black Bulls may be fools, but they were skilled with their abilities, both magic and magicless. In reality, your squad didn't stand a chance against them. You'd have to bet on their teamwork and strategic thinking- against veteran mages. You pulled the cigarette from Yami's hand, tossing it onto the ground and crushing it under foot without looking. "Morgen told you not to smoke, Yami."
The Black Bulls had a confusing strategy, you couldn't quite understand it just yet. They had left Noelle, Finral, and Asta at the flag. Why did they leave Asta there? You assumed they'd have him charge in. Zora had set up traps all around the flag for many meters, Secre was flying over the treetops in search of the other flag. Gauche, Charmy, Gordon, Vanessa, Grey, Magna, Luck, and Henry were spread out throughout the trees. Were they charging straight in? it wasn't unusual for them, so you wouldn't be surprised. You had no doubt Eagan or Lura would find Zora's traps. Just what were the Black Bulls playing at?
Nick, Sachio, and Kichi ran out to the left alongside Arik and Oki. Nariko, Luca, Loise, Ezekiel, and Kort ran out to the left. Isole, Elodie, Miya, Aleric, Lura, and Conrad ran straight ahead. Royce and Eagan began setting up as many traps as possible, Evonne and Adalica were at the ready for the Black Bulls to arrive. Saniiro had perched himself up in a tree behind the flag. Odelia and Takeo stood on either side of the flag, keeping a look out, and Ernesha stood in front of the flag, ready to fight. This was the most you had ever seen your squad dedicated to their training and mock battles. They had thought this out, they were working as a team. Intelligent kids, you'd give them that. It was going to take a lot more than just intelligence to beat the Black Bulls though. "Just what are you're idiots up to, (Y/N)? They're not seriously going to try and take the Black Bull son head-first, are they?" Yami chuckled.
Luck and Magna clashed with Nariko's group not even five-minutes in. Kort and Ezekiel were prepared for them. Ezekiel's Stone Magic may have been slower than Luck's Lightning Magic, but it was the affinities natural weakness. Kort's Steel Magic was able to collide with Magna's magic just as easily. Loise used her magic to keep healing the boys the second they got hurt while Luca's magic enhanced their speed. You understood now- they way they had broken off; Recovery, Supplementary, Attack, all in one. They weren't fools.
