Ciara is pouring gasoline on Marilyns body and all over the bathroom floors. She finishes up and looks at me.
"Take a thorough shower. I'll be waiting for you downstairs," she says and gets out of the bathroom leaving me with Marilyn's dead body.
I inhale and exhale calming myself down and trying to contemplate my life and every choice that I make as a man. I take off my clothes and step into the shower and begin to clean myself up.
I'm downstairs with Ciara who is so busy making sure I have everything inauspicious.
She than takes out Marilyns handkerchief and a few items of all the women I used to love and eventually killed.
"Burning them would be best," she says looking at me waiting for an answer and I nod in agreement.
She lightly smiles at me and spreads the items on the floor and pours gasoline on them. Gladly they're flammable.
"Get out of the house and go to my home. Here," she hands me her house keys.
"Open the door and be comfortable. Wait for me there I'll be right behind you," she says taking up responsibility.
"Ciara you realise there is a dead body in my fucking house, right?" I ask with fear of getting caught if Ciara messes up.
"Just go! I'll be right behind you,I promise. I won't fuck up," she tells me and I sigh.
I nod in affirmation and she lightly laughs amused.
"Good. I'll see you in about 45minutes," she says and I walk out of the house to her place.
I hope she knows what she's doing. I'm not doubting you Ciara,I'm just confused and scared right now.
Confused with your sudden urge to help me because you say you love me even after you said you never want to see me again.
Scared because if this shit doesn't work,I'm going to prison. I don't want to go to prison. I don't want to be put to shame just like Baba was put to shame.
I just want to try again and make it right. Make my life something worth meaningful and not crafty. I want to breathe and be free. I don't want to die a guilty man but a liberated kinda person.
Ciara walks into the house and takes her seat. She finds me watching television. The news. It's my fucking house burning to the ground. Neighbours are standing outside in horror as the the reporters make headlines.
They are asking if I'm alive. The firemen are trying to extinguish the fire but it's blazing alright. Ciara looks exhausted.
"Are you okay?" I ask her and she looks at me with a smile.
"I burned your house down," she says as if she's achieved something real grand. Of course she has, she's saved my life.
"Thank you," I tell her and she gets up from the sofa and takes off her bloody and dirty jumper throwing it on the floor remaining with just a vest.
"People are asking about you," she says referring to the news reports.
"They'll find me. And once they find me they will ask why I don't care about my burning house. And when they realise Marilyn has gone missing they will connect everything to me," I say worriedly but Ciara doesn't look worried at all.
"I thought about everything that you just said before you could even say it. I said I'll fix everything and covers up for your ass," she says and I am frustrated.
She takes a sit next to me and we continue watching the news. Suddenly,a knock. Could be the fucking cops.
Ciara looks at me and she gets up from her seat to answer the door,
"Act devastated, your house just burned down. I will say shit you'll agree with and make sure they believe you," she says and I nod in agreement.
Ciara walks to he door to open and its the cops. Ciara dries her tears from her eyes.
"May I help you officers?" She asks.
"Are you Ciara Darkens?"
"Yes I am. How May I help you? Is this about the house my tenant lives in?" She asks.
"Yes,is he here with you? We've got some things to ask him," one officer with a bass voice says and I know this is my Que.
"Timothy! The cops," she says and I get up from my seat to the door with my best actors face.
"Timothy Zolanski?" He asks.
"Yes,sir."
"Were you here the whole time your house was burning?"
"Yes. I just saw it on the news. I have memories and everything in that house but it's gone now," I say devastated.
