"Why would they put the first year books on the top shelf?" I huffed. "That's so stupid. Who's supposed to reach that?"

"I can." Ellie said and reached up on her tippy toes, being just high enough to grab the potions book. But she didn't grab me.

"What about me?" I asked.

"I wanna see you try." She smirked.

"Ellie. I'm 4'10. I'm not going to be able to reach that." I crossed my arms which only made her laugh.

"Just try."

"Fine."

I jumped up and tried to get the book but just as I thought, I didn't get it. I wasn't even close. Ellie was having a fun time watching me. It was not helping.

"You keep trying. I'm gonna go find my other books." Ellie wiped away a freaking tear as she walked away. I huffed and leaned against the book shelf. I'm going to have to wait for my mum to come in and help me. Who the heck could even reach that?! Besides Ellie. But she's 5'3.

ME: please come back

ME: I can't get it

I texted her.

ELLIE: hold on

ELLIE: I'm talking to this really cute red head

Is she being for real?!

I sunk down to the ground, my back leaning against the bookshelf as I waited. It wasn't that busy in the shop, and no one was walking down this aisle.

ME: ELLIE

ELLIE: hold on

What a friend she is.

"Oh shit!" I heard someone say right after a foot hit my knee. I squealed and jumped to the side. "What the hell are you doing on the ground?" I looked up and saw it was a boy who was talking to me.

I got up to my feet and looked up at him. Yeah, that's right. I had to tilt my head back and look up at him. Holy heck.

"Sorry. Are you okay?" I asked quickly. I didn't mean for him to trip over me.

"I'm fine." He said.

He was silent for a second and it looked like he was thinking. During that time, I looked him over.

He was tall. I don't know how tall but over 5'6 for sure. He had red hair and freckles. And these light brown eyes. He was skinny and lean.

He's really pretty.

"Why were you sitting on the ground?" He asked me.

"I'm waiting for my friend. She's the only one who can reach that book up there. Why would they even put a book up there for a first year. I'm a first year. Well obviously if I need that book. But I'm 10. My birthday is next week." I'm rambling. Oh god.

The boy got the book for me easily and handed it to me. My blush grew as I took it. "Thank you." I whispered.

He gave me a little smile and my stomach immediately began to flutter. "No problem."

Just as he was about to turn away, I spoke up again. "What's your name?" I asked.

He turned back to face me. "Fred. Fred Weasley."

"I'm Brooklyn Park. But my friends call me Brooke."

His smile grew more. He was a really nice smile.
