We can never be on time. It's not possible. Me and Fred will never be on time.

We're going to my parents for dinner.

We had lots of time.

We went to the gym. We fucked. We were there longer than expected. There was traffic. We got Emmy from Kalen's. I already texted my mum said said we were going to be half an hour late, but we all know we're gonna be more than that. Oh, and Emmy isn't in the best of moods so that's great.

"No!" Emmy yelled from her room. "Go away!" I could hear her from our room as I straightened my hair.

"Do not yell at me Emery." Fred said. "You need to get dressed."

"No! No no no!" She got louder with each no.

Who knows why she just isn't having it today. Terrible twos, what can I say?

"Bean, look at me." He said. "What's wrong?"

"I don't- I don't want- mama and you to- go." She said.

"Do you think we're leaving without you?" He asked softly. She must've nodded. "We're going to grandpas and nana's Bean. You're coming with us."

"Grandpas?!" She gasped.

"Yes. Can you put some clothes on now?"

"... no!"

"Don't yell in my face. Sit down." He said.

"No Daddy!" She started crying.

I finished up my hair and unplugged the straightener, raked my fingers through my hair, then walked out of the room, going to Emmy's room.

Fred was standing up, holding Emmy as she cried into his shoulder.

"Can we just not go?" He huffed.

"We've cancelled the last two weeks though." I said as I looked at Emmy. "She didn't eat all of her lunch, she's probably just hangry." I said. "Can I see her?"

He passed her down to me and I held her to my front as I sat down on the ground, crossing my legs and sat her in my lap facing me.

I rubbed my hand against her back and kissed the top of her head. She clutched her little hands in the sides of my long sleeve shirt.

Fred grabbed the clothes from the dresser, then sat down in front of me.

"Is there something wrong with your outfit?" I asked Emmy as I ran my first gets through her hair. She shook her head with a whimper. "Do you want to see grandpa and nana?" Now she nodded. "Then why were you yelling at daddy? Are you mad at him?"

"No- I'm- I'm not mad- at Dada." She pulled her head back and looked up at me with a little sniffle.

"Then I think you should apologize for yelling because that wasn't nice."

I stood her up and turned her around so she faced Fred. She sniffled again. "I'm sorry daddy." She said, then looked down at her feet. "No more yelling."

"Thank you Bean." Fred said. "Are you ready to get dressed?"

"Yes." She nodded.

I kissed the back of her head, then stood up. "Are you ready love?" Fred asked as he pulled off Emmy's shirt.

"Yeah, I'm just gonna grab a protein bar or something from Emmy." I said. He nodded.

I left him to dress her, grabbed my phone from our room, then went downstairs to the kitchen.

I opened one of the cupboard and pulled out a flat white bin, grabbing an apple flavoured toddlers protein bar.

"Kobe, cookie." I said as I grabbed a treat out of the jar. He hurried up to me and sat down, then I gave it to him and pressed a kiss to the top of his head.
