Alyssa POV

It's about 7 in the morning and I have been working on an essay for the past hour. I mean, I'm almost done but It's taking forever. ...my name is Alyssa Bradford uh huh... I'm a student in the honors class. I help no- work for the student council and I'm fairly popular in school, yeah that sounds good. kinda wish I could talk more about how influential I am at school but that might be too much. I'll just say I am a good leader. I'm going to talk about the charity event I hosted (and majority funded) during the summer. I wish more essays were about me because this is easy. Well, I did do the event to write about it on my resume.

...

Alright, my personal essay is complete!
I'm writing a rough draft submission from a college I want to attend. My family likes this university. A lot. So I hope this is good enough.

"Honey wake up breakfast is ready!" I hear my mom call for me in the hall.
I've been awake for two hours already. But I always appreciate my mom trying to wake me up on time. I finish getting ready and putting on my makeup.
I head downstairs and see my dad sitting at the table being harassed by the dogs. My mom giggles at this.
"That's what you get for feeding the dogs under the dinner table"
dad just looks away.
" *Ahem* Alyssa! How was yesterday?" My dad tries to change the subject " I heard you're having trouble tutoring a student?"
Ugh, my dad had to hit me where it hurt. There is this student I'm tutoring her name is Imani Nguyen. She's quite cute. I've seen her after school and her fashion sense is incredible. She's in my class and signed up for the tutoring the school offers. Since I was the only one available I offered to help. I didn't realize how behind she was. Honors is a year ahead of the normal classes so she's a whole year behind.

"Is she not listening to you? I bet you that kid is a troublemaker. So don't worry too hard."
That's the other problem, I know she's trying. She studies hard and she does all the work I assign her it's just when I grade her work it's completely wrong. It's adorable how she hands in her papers and every single question is wrong. It's adorable but also annoying. And most of the questions she asks me aren't relevant to solve the problem.

" Daddy I don't think she is a troublemaker, I think she's just dumb"
" Okay missy no need to be rude" my mom side-eyes me.

I lightly shrug.
It's fine to be a little dumb. I mean she isn't just struggling in math, her chemistry grade is pretty low too. Though my chemistry grade isn't up to my standard either. She probably isn't going to be able to stay in the honors class.

I decide to change the subject as well " Oh! I finished writing my personal essay." with my grades and this I should have a very good chance of entering the university.

"That's great honey you can continue the legacy of every Bradford heading to Gale university"
I guess so. I prefer Heartfort, I want to be in economics somewhere, but Gale has the best law and arts classes in the area but... I don't know.

" Okay honey, you ready for school?" my mother likes making me arrive early.

I get up and grab a snack for school. I do eat lunch but just in case.

***

As I approach school I see my best friend Elizabeth waiting for me. I think she is the only one who arrives earlier than me. I see her waving at my car. When I step out of the car I head straight over to her.

my best friend, Elizabeth Claymore, a pure blonde who is the smartest in our grade. If I had one complaint about her is that she is always busy. She has 15 different friends from other schools or her job. It's surprising honestly how many people she knows. But I'll always be her favorite. We've been friends since pre-school.
