Edward had subconsciously taken you under his wing after Jake had rejected you, his imprint, in order to keep fighting for Bella.
You were always with him even more than Bella was and it was starting to cause issues.
Bella was upset that Edward choose to spend more time with you than her and Jakes anger was taking over as he saw the two of you.
When Jake couldn't handle it anymore he ran up to you and grabbed you from Edward.
"I'll handle it from here" he said.
"Yeah we'll see." Edward responsed
