The night Edward took Bella to the baseball game, he was convinced she was his blood singer

The night Edward took Bella to the baseball game, he was convinced she was his blood singer. His family, however, was not so sure.

"She just doesn't fit here," "She's really quiet," "I know you love her, but are you sure she's the one?" These were common phrases in the household.

Edward was fed up and wanted to prove to them that Bella was, in fact, his mate so everyone could leave them alone.

That was until they came face to face with the new pack of vampires in Forks. Instead of three, there were four.

"Why is a human with you?" Emmett blurted out when he saw you cowering behind Victoria. Your eyes widened as you heard "human."

Victoria's stare quickly changed into a glare as she grabbed your arm, pulling you beside her. You had been her plaything for the last few months. She drank your blood little by little, claiming you owed her; for what, you didn't know. You were dragged around to each town, watching them take lives from people they claimed were in debt to them.

Rosalie hit Emmett's arm and shook her head at him.

"Why do you?" she shot back, gripping your arm tighter.

When she pulled you next to her, a gust of wind went past you and towards the Cullens—to Edward.

His harsh grip on Bella softened, and his eyes subconsciously went wide as the scent hit him. It was completely different from Bella's. It smelled like his childhood. His mom would light a candle that she had somehow made scented like they have now. A sugar cookie smell mixed with pumpkin that, in modern times, they call the scent of Christmas. He wanted to cry. He couldn't, but he felt it.

"Sometimes some human scents are just stronger than others," Carlisle's voice rang in his head as he thought back to their conversation yesterday. He was trying to explain to Edward that he wanted Bella to be his mate so desperately was because of her scent, not for the blood singer reason, but because he was relapsing back to blood. Carlisle knew this because of how Edward treated Bella in the beginning when they met. He wanted nothing to do with her. He wanted to stay away from her. He told him that when he truly found his mate, there would be such a pull that he would instantly want her in his life. No stand-off BS that Edward pulled.

That pull gripped Edward by the throat as he looked at you and inhaled, something he would never do around Bella. He looked down at her, who was already looking at him. She knew that look.

Edward didn't have to read her mind to know what she was thinking. He looked back at you.

"Shit."
