"I'm so embarrassed," Jasper hissed, following Alice onto the bus. He had just made his first attempt to talk to you alone, and to him, it didn't go as planned. His mind was racing, replaying every awkward moment in excruciating detail. The memory of the flowerpot 'slipping' from his hands haunted him, and he couldn't shake the feeling of utter humiliation.

"Oh, you did fine, Jasper!" Alice turned to him with a reassuring smile as she stepped onto the bus. Her confidence was unwavering, but it did little to soothe Jasper's nerves.

"Well, I went and dropped the whole dang flowerpot on her!" He cringed, his face contorting with the memory. The words tasted bitter in his mouth, and he wished he could take them back.

"You did what you had to," Alice said, trying to comfort him.

He walked and sat in the same seat as Alice, his shoulders slumped in defeat. The scene played over and over in his head like a broken record. He could see the pieces of the pot scattering across the ground, the dirt spilling out, and the look of surprise on your face.

All he wanted to do was give you a plant he had bought specially for you. Alice had talked to you many times, trying to build a relationship, but Jasper was too anxious to talk to you, much less alone. He thought buying you a gift would spark a conversation—a spider plant. The pot was a shimmering gold that reminded him of you, elegant and radiant.

He walked up to you, his steps heavy with anticipation. If he were human, his whole face would be red, his stomach had butterflies raving, and he had his breath held as he looked at you. "H-Hello," he managed to stammer, his voice barely above a whisper.

You turned and smiled when you saw it was Jasper. "Hey Jasper! I was actually looking for Alice. Do you know where she is?" you asked, your eyes scanning the area behind him.

He turned his head behind him; Alice had vanished from her position of cheering him on. "Uh, n-no, I don't, but I'll tell her you're looking for her." He tried to smile, but it went unnoticed by you as you looked where he was.

"We were supposed to go to the mall later, but she never gave me a time." You turned back to him and glanced down at the plant he had a tight grip on. "Spider plant, nice!" you smiled, looking closer.

His eyes grew wider—you knew what plant it was.

"I-I saw it at the garden center," he started, his grip growing tighter as you inspected the plant. "And I-it-well-it reminded me of you, so I got it... for you," he stuttered, his voice trembling with nerves.

"For me?" you asked, shocked that he got it just for you.

He nodded and heard a distant laugh he knew was Alice's.

"Everyone, on the bus, let's go!" the bus driver called out.

You looked towards the bus as people got on and sighed. "I really don't want to go." You reached for the plant. "Feild trip after field trip." You rolled your eyes.

He pushed the plant forward. "If you want, we can sit—" Your hand brushed his. His whole body shocked from the touch; his grip let go of the plant.

Before it reached the ground, he quickly bent down and caught the pot. He froze—he used his vampire speed. He slowly looked up at you, your eyes wide from the motion.

With quick thinking, he let the pot fall from his hand slowly. Anyone could have caught it, but he was already in motion. To attempt to distract you, he let out an unconvincing "Oh... no..."

The moment he realized how fake it looked, he cringed. The pot had broken in front of your shoes, which happened to be white. They were now covered in dirt. He kept his eyes down as he awkwardly walked away without a word.
