After what happened in s2 ep13,
Cuphead just stood there shocked when Mugman got taken away by the Devil. This is where our story begins.....

Cuphead: M-Mugman.....?
Then, Chalice appeared by Cuphead.
Chalice: Hey, guys! Whoa, nice face of Mugman on Mt. Rushmore! Did you make th-
Then, Chailce relaized Mugman is not there.
Chalice: Um.....where is Mugman? Is he hiding somewhere?
Cuphead: He's gone.....
Chalice: What do you mean?
Cuphead turns around to face Chailce and she notices that he's about to break down in tears.
Chailce: Hey, you okay? What happened?
Cuphead: Mugman, he.....he got taken away......
Chalice: Did he get kidnapped?!
Cuphead: Yes, and all because I didn't give back this.....
Chalice notices the pitchfork in Cuphead's hand.
Chailce: !! Is that the Devil's pitchfork?!
Cuphead: Yes.....I didn't mean to take it....he left it behind somehow.....
Chalice: You shouldn't take things that aren't yours....but the Devil has gone way too far! We need to rescue Mugman.....but we need a plan first.....
Cuphead:.........
Back home, Elder Kettle sleeps in his chair. Upstairs, Chalice makes the plan.
Chalice: We have no idea where the Devil went but we will search everywhere and anywhere until we find Mugman!
Cuphead:.........
Chalice: Aww, com'n! Cheer up! We'll rescue him soon! Don't be such a sad sack. Com'n, give me that smile.
Cuphead:..........
Chalice: Is there something you want to tell me? I'm here for ya, you know.
Cuphead: *sigh* Sorry.....it's just....I'm worried about Mugs....what if he gets hurt? What if he's screaming for help right now? Or.....or....what if he turns evil.....I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!
Chalice: Whoa, whoa, easy.....calm down....where ever Mugman is, I'm sure he'll be okay and we will rescue him soon. It's getting late. You should get some sleep. We'll finish the plan tomorrow.....
Cuphead: Alright.....
Nighttime, Cuphead sleeps in Mugman's bed and holds his teddy bear in his sleep. Cuphead's eyes started to well up with tears when he woke up from a nightmare.....
Cuphead: It wasn't a dream.....*sniffle*
Cuphead wipes his tears and hugged his brother's teddy bear tighter and falls asleep.
