Nighttime falls over the house and Cuphead is still unconscious, laying on his bed. Mugman sat on the edge of bed in tears.
Mugman: (voice breaking) You dummy....why didn't you listen to me....
Mugman touched his brother's arm gently.
Mugman: (voice breaking) But....it was my fault I didn't protect you enough....you had enough problems as it is.....
Mugman sat on the bed, his back and head against the wall. His tears drip on the sheets.
Mugman: (voice breaking) And now....your soul got taken.....
Mugman bursted into tears and his face in his knees.

Meanwhile, in hell.....
Devil: Haha! I finally got that cup's soul! It's so fun seeing his brother suffer!
Henchman:.......
Cuphead: You monster! Why are you doing this?! I thought my soul was safe!
The Devil walked to the soul vault where Cuphead's soul remains.
Devil: You lost the game fair and square! You owed me your soul in the first place!
Cuphead: That was almost 9 months ago! Get over it!
Devil: Shut up! You were so upset that your brother got taken and you helped him escape! Now, he's feeling the same pain as you are! It's so fun seeing him suffer to bits!
Cuphead: Mugsy......

With Mugman, he fell asleep next to his brother, not leaving his side. A tear rolled down Cuphead's face while he's unconscious.

Later, with Chalice, she floats home.
Chalice: Oh, god.....I hope the boys are okay.....
She floats through the house and turns to her normal form.
Chalice: Hello? Mugs? Cuphead?
Chalice went upstairs and walked over to the boys' bedroom door, which is slightly open. She opens the door.
Chalice: Are y-
Then, she notices Cuphead's gray color.
Chalice: Oh.....his soul got taken....that makes sense.....
Chalice sat on her mattress and looks at Mugman sleeping close to Cuphead. She smiled a little.
Chalice: (whispers) Good night, you dum-dums.
Chalice was about to fall asleep but hears Mugman waking up.
Chalice: Oh! Mugs! You're awake.
Mugman: (yawns) Chalice? What are you doing back here so early?
Chalice: I heard what happened. Are you okay?
Mugman sat down next to Chalice on her mattress.
Mugman: I'm okay....but Cuphead's soul got taken....he's unconscious....I miss him already.....
Chalice puts her hand on her friend's shoulder in comfort.
Chalice: Well, we're gonna get his soul back! I can't stand seeing you guys like this.....
Mugman: But how? We don't even know where the Devil has taken his soul.
Chalice: He's in hell. Where else would he be?
Mugman: Oh.
Mugman smacks his own face.
Mugman: I'm an idiot. It's the same place where I was kidnapped.
Chalice: And his soul is somewhere down there.
Mugman: But how are we gonna rescue Cuphead's soul?
Chalice: We'll figure out a plan in the morning. For now, we should get some rest.
Mugman: (yawns) Alright.....
Mugman held his brother close and fell asleep next to him.
Chalice: (whispers) Good night, guys....
Chalice fell asleep on her mattress.

Meanwhile, with Cuphead's soul....
Cuphead: I hope my brother and Chalice will come rescue me soon.....
Cuphead's soul rested against the wall inside of the soul vault.
Cuphead: I stand this any longer.....please....I don't want to be here all alone.....I'm scared.....
Cuphead's soul is the only one there, so he's all alone in the soul vault.
Cuphead:........
