Friday - Chris' POV
TW: this chapter contains both mentions of death and sexual themes. If these are topics that are sensitive to you then please sit this one out.
The lovers barely spoke to each other throughout the rest of their free periods. They sat at opposite ends of the fountain and only made contact through their eyes by Chris catching David sneaking glances at him. This was their first official fight and Chris already hated being separated from David. He could tell David hated it too by all the times he caught him staring. It was obvious that neither of them were going to apologise first, but one of them had to. When school ended for the day, Chris decided he would be the bigger man and give up his pride just this once.
Chris entered the school's car park and looked around for where his car was parked to see that David had vanished. Usually David would be waiting by Chris' car so they could drive home together, but today he wasn't. He scanned the car park until his eyes landed on David marching his way to Craig's car with the blonde by his side. Oh no you don't.
The Scotsman speedwalked over to Craig's car before the two could get in and drive away. Craig must have noticed his best friend's lover approaching as he gave him a warm smile as well as a wave.
"Hey Chris!"
"Hello Craig, looking pretty handsome today. Can I borrow this for a while?" Before David could turn around to greet Chris, the boy swept the jock off of his feet and princess carried him all the way over to his own car.
"What are you doing?! Wait! Don't drop me!" David wrapped his arms around the back of Chris' neck and held on for dear life so he didn't fall on his ass.
Chris sat David back down on his feet at the passenger side of his car. He then took out his keys to unlock the car and took a seat in the drivers side as he revved up the car. "Are you coming or what?"
David thought to himself about his decision and looked over at Craig who reassured him it was okay and waved him off. David shrugged at Craig and opened the passenger side door to Chris' car and entered the vehicle. Satisfied with David's decision, Chris pulled out of the car park and drove out of the school.
Throughout the drive Chris would occasionally sneak glances at David to see him staring out the window. It was clear that he was thinking about something or was trying to muster up the courage to say something. Deciding to make it easier for the jock, Chris filled the silence instead.
"I guess I'm not as strong as I thought I was."
"Huh?"
"I was struggling keeping you up. It's either I'm not as strong as I think I am or your muscles are too much for me."
"Mm."
What riveting conversation. Even though it was obvious that neither of the boys wanted to be unhappy with the other, they couldn't move on from this so easily. David didn't know it, but Chris fully intended on the boys to verbally hash out their feelings whether he liked it or not. As Chris neared his home, David unbuckled his belt and held onto the door handle only to watch the house pass by as they continued to drive.
"You just passed the house."
"I know."
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see."
Chris could see David squinting at him with confusion through the corner of his eye which caused a smirk to appear on his face. As the two ventured further and further from their home, David got restless in his seat and began to frantically search around the new locations they passed. Eventually David decided to speak up when Chris parked his car near a trail that disappeared into the woods.
