I slowly looked up and saw a man looking down at me, his eyebrows raised.
"Sorry, I didn't see you because I was texting..." I trailed off, showing him my phone when I noticed the cold look in his eyes, like as if he didn't care about my excuses.
Oh well.
His eyes, they looked black. Almost black, with a hint of blue. His jet black hair was slicked back neatly and his jaw was clenched tight.
Who pissed him off?
He wore a black suit that hugged his body with a white shirt underneath, with its top two buttons opened, exposing his chest and a silver chain.
One of his hands was in his pocket and the other held a phone. I could tell he was important by the way he was dressed, or the way two men behind him in suits had stood to attention the moment I approached him.
Girls notice everything, sweetheart.
He looked intimidating, and for a moment my breath hitched. He was perfect, like a Greek God descended from the skies, or perhaps a statue. He certainy looked like one. I shook my head and collected myself.
"I'm sorry, sir. I'll be going now" I squeaked like a mouse and went around him and towards the counter, not looking back.
Talk about embarressing.
I quickly took a brownie and was on my way back when I bumped into someone again, closing my eyes shut with frustration.
Shit, not again!
"Ths wasn't on purpose, I really am sorry. It won't happen again, hopefully, I'm just really clumsy. Sorry again." I rambled and before he could say anything, I ran off towards my place, quickly jumping into my seat, utterly breathless.
"What happened to you? You look like you've seen a ghost." Abigail looked at me intently and I blew out a deep breath, collecting myself.
"I bumped into a drop dead gorgeous man— twice. It was embarrassing." I whispered to her and she frowned.
"Why are you whispering?" She bent low and also whispered to me.
"Because—" I looked behind her to see the man talking to someone on the phone with his back towards us.
"He's right behind you. Look." And Abigail turned around, taking a good look at the man and I heard Cole whistle.
"Damn. You want me to be your wing man, Dove?" Cole looked at me playfully and my eyes widened.
"No! Keep your voice down! I just bumped into him, that's all. He seems a little intimidating, no?" I asked Abigail who nodded, still looking at the man.
"Sweet mother of Jesus. Look at that jawline, and that body. If looks could kill babe, I'd be six feet under." She looked at me and I just chuckled, straightening in my seat and finishing the last of my brownie and coffee.
I ate in in silence except to answer Abigail or Cole when they asked me something. By the time I was done, I picked up my cup and brownie plate and carried it to the counter. I hated it when people had to clean up after me.
"Mark, here you go." I handed him the plated and the cup and he smiled brightly.
"Always the angel." He gave me a wide smile before it disappeared as he looked at something behind me and paled.
A shadow loomed over me and an intoxicating scent enveloped me, threatening to make me dizzy. I turned around and looked up to see the same man staring down at me.
Not creepy at all, Mr. Frankenstein.
"Can I help you?" I asked him but he didn't move a muscle, just looked deep into my eyes, as if he could see rght through me. I squirmed under his gaze but held it for as long as I could before moving away from his path.
"You must need to order something. Sorry, I'm in your way." I moved aside to let him order and he moved forward, scanning the menu like it was his prey.
Gulp.
"I'll take the black coffee." He spoke and I couldn't help but feel attracted to his deep, velvety voice. I shook my head, and turned around to walk back to my friends when he called out to me.
"I never got your name." I turned around and found him looking at something behind me before his gaze settled on me, intent and intense, just like him.
"My name?" I asked him, puzzled, to which he gave me a quick nod.
"Dove." I gave him my most dazzling smile and he nodded, his jaw clenching even more if possible.
"Dove...?" He repeated it and I was mesmerized by the way my name rolled off his tongue, staring at his full pink lips. I shook my head, chasing away all wrong thoughts.
"Winchester." I said and his facial features relaxed, his tongue poking the inside of his cheek. Hot.
Quit it! You just broke up with someone!
"What's your name?" I asked him with a hopeful glint in my eye. He eyed me briefly while paying for his coffee and I noticed the black card he used to pay with, engraved with something in golden.
A VIP card, with unlimited balance.
I knew he was someone important!
"Nicholas." He told me, now taking a sip of his coffee and looking at me intently.
"Nicholas...?" I repeated, copying what he said when he corner of his lps curled.
"King." He added and I nodded while he looked at me as if he was expecting a better reaction.
What? I'm supposed to give him a lap dance now?
"That's a nice name." I smiled at him and then looked at the time on my phone. "Oh crap! I'm gonna be late!"
"It was really nice to meet you, and I'm sorry once again for bumping into you, twice. But, I'll get you a coffee sometime if we meet again as an apology. Bye!" Not sparing another glance to the man, I quickly ran to Cole and Abigail to tell them I was going home.
They told me they'd come in a while and I ran out of the café and back to my house.
Shit, I hope I make it in time for class.
