Giyuu easily deflected the blow as he protected the defenseless boy."Take your sister and run." He instructed as he stood over the two huddled on the ground.
"Giyuu, what are you doing?" Shinobu said frantically.
Tanjiro forced his legs to move as he picked his sister up and began to run off into the trees.
He knew they wouldn't get far with Kanao personally chasing after him, but this would at least buy them some time.
"Giyuu, quick, before they get away!" She said trying to chase after them.
Giyuu instantly snatched her up under his arm before she could slip away.
"I can't let you do that." Giyuu said as he restrained her, he watched her foot carefully.
Shinobu didn't even resist knowing it would be pointless.
She couldn't believe what was happening, he had just protected the demon from her.
"Giyuu, stop this is-"
A crow flew overhead seeing the entire thing. She only just noticed it's presence.
"I know what I'm doing." He said firmly.
"If your caught you'll-"
Giyuu let go of her but still maintained his grip on her hands.
"Listen to me." He said looking her in the eyes.
"Trust me.... You'll understand soon."
"CAW, CAW, BRING SLAYER TANJIRO KAMADO AND HIS DEMON SISTER TO THE HEADQUARTERS!" the crow shouted loudly as it flew above.
Giyuu instantly released his grip on her as he heard the crow's message.
He turned and faced away from her as he began walking in the direction Tanjiro fled to.
Giyuu only briefly looked back to see why she wasn't following.
She stood frozen after being let go. The reality of what was about to happen set in. Her mind raced with thoughts, to her, Giyuu had just violated one of the most important rules. He would certainly be put to death if they returned to the headquarters now.
Giyuu turned around and grabbed her hand as he lead her back to the headquarters instead.
He didn't look back even once after that until they arrived at the headquarters gates.
He pushed them open with one hand, all the pillars were already assembled near the staging area.
They were the last two to arrive.
As they stepped in Giyuu stopped and turned around to face her.
"I'll be ok, don't worry about me."
Her hands were shaking, although she was good at hiding her emotions around others she was so clearly trembling. The prospect that Giyuu would be killed frightened her to her very core.
None of the words he said seemed to get through to her, she was too caught up in her own thoughts to notice him talking.
"He's going to die, he's going to die, he's going to die." That singular thought repeated in her head on loop nonstop. That was all she could think of as she stepped closer and closer to the others.
Kanae approached her younger sister and gave her a comforting hug after seeing her condition.
"It's ok, it's ok, I'll do something." She said trying to comfort the trembling mess which was her little sister.
