Those were the longest few seconds she had ever felt in her life. His body's weight heavily leaned against her as she sat on the ground broken.

A hand finally grabbed ahold of her from behind.

A masked Kakushi member ripped Shinobu away from his body as another began dragging him towards the darkness of a nearby alleyway.

"I'm sorry." The helper squeaked out.

The reality he was gone broke the little woman, she had no will to resist as she watched him get taken away.

Tanjiro ran over trying to stop the Kakushi member.

"Get away from him!" He yelled nearly ramming into the Kakushi dragging his body away.

Tanjiro had tripped short, his legs had no energy left, the adrenaline in his system had long since faded. He stumbled and rolled on the ground a few meters short as he watched the man he considered his best friend be taken away.

His body was placed flat on the ground near a dark alley as a pale person in a Kakushi uniform began tending to him while fiddling with a few bags of red liquids and needles.

Shinobu had been released from the Kakushi's hold.

She got up and took a few steps towards him, her hand limply reaching out for his.

"Giyuu...." She barely managed to squeak out as her chest throbbed in pain.

It was suffocating, all the oxygen in her system barely circulated as her heart weakly pumped.

Her eyes lost their color as she collapsed onto the ground only a few meters away from him.

It was a gruesome sight watching the pale skinned man puncture needle after needle and hook up bag after bag before beginning compressions on the dead pillar.

Tanjiro's eyes finally managed to tell him who it was in the shadowy alley.

It was Yushiro, his face clearly frustrated as he mumbled things to himself.

"C'mon, C'mon, you're not dead yet. You're not dead yet." He said to himself as he pressed against his chest in a rhythm.

If he could get fresh blood circulating through his system and some oxygen to his lungs he might have a chance. He wasn't dead long so his chances of survival were decent if he could get something going.

Yushiro pumped with everything he had as he felt the ribs under him break away from the sternum with an audible crunch.

"Yushiro!" Tanjiro yelled as he got up and ran over with what little strength his legs could muster.

"Give me another blood bag!" Yushiro yelled at the boy not even looking up as he continued his compressions in a rhythm.

Tanjiro fiddled with the large bag to his left, he unlatched it as he opened it up. A multitude of random tools and items were inside, all wrapped in different kinds of clothes.

Tanjiro grabbed as many things out as he could, he didn't know what he was doing but he knew what blood looked like.

He searched and pulled out 5 different almost transparent red pouches labeled with different things on them.

"The O negative! Give me the O Negative!" The demon doctor yelled at him.

Tanjiro handed him what looked like a bag with a large "O" symbol on it, there was only one labeled "O" anyway so this had to be what he was asking for.

Yushiro quickly hooked up an odd device to Giyuu's arm and hooked a tube to it before screwing off and plugging in the other end to the bag.

All these fancy tools he had never seen before confused him, Tanjiro didn't know what Yushiro was doing but it didn't look to be working.

Two breaths, another set, two breaths, another set. Yushiro was giving it his all, every ounce of training he received, all those decades of medical expertise, they were going to be used here and now.

It was a long minute while the others watched on as the shadowy figure did a set of motions unfamiliar to them. It was some sort of western medicine, that was all Kanae could recognize.

His persistence was paying off. The color was returning to the man's face. Soon he began to cough violently, Yushiro backed off as he watched.

It was a miracle in the making, by the hands of a demon the body of the pillar was being revived.

Giyuu hacked violently as he coughed and wheezed for air.

Yushiro immediately got up and dragged the bag over to himself shooing Tanjiro away.

He pulled out a multitude of different things as he sliced and ripped open sets of packaging for things he would need with his claws.

Carefully, bit by bit, he wrapped up and closed as many wounds as he could find as Giyuu's breathing stabilized. It was like a triage and treatment all in one place, the demon doctor working like a well oiled machine as he closed, sutured, and disinfected as many cuts and open wounds as he could.

If he got an infection or something after this it didn't matter. If he could just live past here then they could worry about that later and treat it with medicine when the time came.

Giyuu's eyes shot open with a jolt as he worked to breath.

It was hard to believe what was happening, this unnamed man had just done what they thought to be impossible.

His pupils went wide as he looked to his left while laying down.

Those cat like eyes briefly glancing at him before continuing with what it was doing.

"Don't move, I just closed a few of your wounds."

"If you move I'll kill you myself." Yushiro said with a low growl as he wrapped another set of cloth bandages around his arm.

He wasn't going to sit idly by when there was still people to save, when his skills were still needed.

Giyuu complied, his eyes staring into the now brightened sky as he wondered what just happened.

The demon after what he deemed a suitable amount of work had been done patted him lightly before standing up.

He stepped close to the edge of the shaded area.

Now that he was closer to the light and not faced away it was easier to see who he was.

The pillars and members of the slayer Corps were looking at not just any regular man. It was a demon, but before anyone could do anything, he spoke.

"Hey! He's good to go! Get him where he needs to be!" Yushiro shouted before turning around and retreating into the darkness.

Even if the universe was cruel, there was always those who fought against it.

He was one such person.
