Finally… I was done.
Well, this was a shitty take at life.
Wouldn't recommend it to anybody.
"Beeeeeeeep!"
That possibly cannot be the first sound I hear right after entering the afterlife.
Am I in hell? If only I hadn't spent my last few moments simping over a dilf-
Faced against a bright white light attacking me viciously in the eyes, I remained immobile, waiting to either feel the nice, cool air of heaven or maybe boiling fire of hell. I wasn't too sure, given with all the stupid decisions I have taken.
The lid of my eyes opened automatically as soon as the lights disappeared, the sound of rain coming back but ringing straight in my ears. In that moment, I felt a million emotions rush up to consume me but disappointment topped them all.
In front of me stood a yellow 69 corvette, and with a bit of squinting I could make out an elderly woman seated inside, probably too glad to not have hit a rando kid with her precious, beautiful car.
"Oh honey! Are you okay? Did I hit you?" she bombarded me with questions once returning out of shock, genuine worry lacing her questions.
Eyes unable to rest at one place, I looked around everywhere in question, finding that nothing had changed. Nothing. Everything was just the same. Rain continuously falling but accompanying me with wild screams, followed by a huge thunder splitting open the sky every few minutes.
Would the world be any different if I had died?
Slowly, I walked to the passenger side of the door where the window had rolled down, my whole body trembling from the cold as I looked down at my bare feet, skin forming wrinkles due to the water. "Yes… I'm okay. Sorry for uh, coming in the middle of the road."
The kind lady only kept apologizing as I awkwardly nodded at her words, not knowing how to possibly tell her that she had ruined my plans of dying… anyways.
"How foolish of me!" she scolded herself yet again, eyes only getting guiltier regarding me everytime. "What are you doing all alone in a harsh weather like this? Come inside, darling! I'll drop you to your home."
The weight of my body shifted from one leg to another as I couldn't stop biting my lip to overcome my anxiety. I looked around once again but realized I had run myself out in a completely foreign neighborhood, sheer surprise falling over my face.
Sensing my silence, the woman spoke again, ushering me to enter her car first. "I really don't want to wet your seat, ma'am..." I opened my mouth, feeling embarrassed all of a sudden. "It looks really expensive."
"Oh don't be silly, young girl. There's nothing more precious than life. Now get inside!" my eyes widened but I acquiesced nonetheless, clearing my throat but cringing as water dripped down from my hair and clothes to the black leather of the seat.
"Not every life is precious," I couldn't help but let out, heart clenching as I sighed.
"You don't value what you have never lost. You know… I see thousands of kids your age wanting to escape out of their lives, they make jokes about killing themselves on a daily basis…" Her words accurately described me as I quietly listened, pulling on the skin of my thumb with an overwhelm of feelings. "But you're not tired of living, you're tired of your life. There's a difference… there's so much more that you are yet to see, that you will see, and then, you'll be very grateful for yourself to have stayed strong like a mountain and endured it all. You will live the life that you desire but that can only happen… if you stay alive. "
