I fixed the thin strap of my dress, taking careful measured steps Jeongguk had linked to the card he had sent along with a team of ladies who gave me a pleasant shock with not only a full wardrobe of dresses just for today, but matching accessories and heels for each possible pair, combined with professional makeup and even pre-makeup?
God… I looked like I was going to the red carpet only for dinner for two. I bet Jeongguk looked nowhere as overly glamorous and overdone yet perfectly handsome for any event. A feeling of silliness started to climb over me, attempting to lick off some of the dark lipstick after feeling so overdone.
Running a hand over the satin cowl neck dress, I stopped my actions, freeing my head from all the worry and tension. Moments like these are meant to be overdone, to be overjoyed so that in times of despair, they are the consoling hand, a standing proof of the betterment of times in the easy form of memories. That life is meant to have ups and downs.
This was the first time I was getting out of the house since the day I got here. The air was cool and crispy, a tiny gust of wind passing over but making me shiver under the pale moon lit night.
The reason I had chosen this dress from the many others was as simple as,
Red looks dangerous on you, amor ~Jeon
Throughout the rebuild of our relationship and the countless silent dinners we had shared, I knew this was going to be nothing like them. It was going to be different. I could feel it in the air. He had changed. I had changed. Our relationship had changed.
After the driver had brought me to an empty park, I was on my own. Underneath the flickering stars and bright lamp posts, I continued to walk, typing in a text about the whereabouts of his location.
Before I could press send, a silhouette made me stop in my tracks. I squinted, taking a better look at the person standing in a distance, my suspicions clearing seeing the park come to dead-end there, followed by a round-about, except there was a table in the middle of the stone round building, open at the roof but welcoming a gorgeous view of the Sea at the side.
"Damn…" a low gasp left me before I was already taking faster steps towards him, lifting my dress in hopes to surprise him with my arrival.
Keeping the clanking of my heels minimal, just as I was about to call for him, Jeongguk turned.
And just like that, everything came to a stop. Well, it wasn't exactly a… stop. The speciality of the moment was that it wasn't like the typical breath-taking scenes you'd expect in a movie or a book. It was just…there. It was peaceful, there wasn't a full mob of butterflies absolutely annihilating my insides but faint singing of sparrows calming my heart, the sound of the clinquant ocean combined creating an enthralling melody.
His attention trailed up from bottom to top, taking a step closer with each motion of his glittering gaze. Finally, he was in front of me, the full moon adequately illuminating his eyes that stared directly into mine.
He bit onto the plushness of his red glossy lips, making his features pop, thanks to the maroon suit he donned. The way he took my breath away was nothing new but the feeling of intense love — this urge to satisfy, to surrender, to sacrifice was something I hadn't made an acquaintance to yet. His eyes… they were like limitless letters, curved with tiny crinkles decorating around the soft edges, cute moles littered over his dusted red cheeks, still managing to pull off a beguiling smirk tugging over his lips, cupid's bow pronounced.
