Loud sounds of crashes and cracks slapped me up from yet another comfortable slumber, my mind fuzzy as I tried to navigate through the translucent darkness. A yawn in the disguise of a well-trained exhaustion came crashing like a Trojan horse. I smacked my lips but twisted to shift to a more comfortable position.

Eyes already shut and breathing beginning to stabilize, I just scoffed mentally.

One of these days I'm bound to give these ravages a good lesson! …they ought to correct their disturbing schedules, shooting guns and having boxing matches every goddamn midnight like the miserable bats that they are…!

Another vigorous threatening slam, akin to a plummeting down of a whole wall of bricks and I sat up straight, all the sleep sucked out of me but leading the way to realization seeping into my bones.

This isn't home…

Jeongguk… he must be here!

It didn't matter if my vision shook as I got out of bed, fumbling over to the door, promptly turning the knob, ready to face the army of enemies with everything I was capable of. I frowned, turning the knob with more strength this time, again and once again but to no avail; it was locked.

A wave of betrayal splashed over me, drowning me in a bucket of cold sweat and my eyes hurried from one place to another, searching for anything that could fit in the hole but turn the darn lock open.

My fingers trembled just slightly when a flash of lightning struck somewhere, bringing about a sudden burst of light into the dark space I was in, an aggressive roar of the disappointed sky following behind.

It was then a piece of paper caught my eye, placed at the corner of the cabinet top

Sorry.

That was it? That was all he had to say? After divulging all about the reasons he was who he was, being so painfully honest and intimate and of all, having the sheer audacity to show me a glimpse of hope to escape this monstrous nightmare… he… he betrayed again!

Stop, Y/n! This isn't the time to be an emotional mess, you need to get out there and be as much of use as the rest!

With new determination fueling my gut, I walked back until there was an appropriate distance from the door, I brought my knee up, extending my leg into the kick but charging my hips forward. One foot planted firmly into the ground tileboard, I leaned my torso forward, kicking my heel near the lock at once.

The impact of the collision shook me from the bottom up, a deriding snort responding to my vain attempt, coming from the metallic chain that seemed to hang open from the outside of the door.

I groaned at my stupidity, my jaw clenching in place. Of course it wouldn't open like that, that trick only worked from the outside! Not when you're locked on the inside because the enemy apparently didn't consider you capable enough to participate in the brawl!

My palm pressed against the wall, navigating for the light switch as I turned it on just as fast, crouching down slightly to inspect the space between the doorframe and the lock. And just like the flashes and thunder going off in all directions, my eyes lit up, remembering the words of none other than Jeon Jeongguk himself!

How to open a door 101

Suddenly I was moving, scanning swiftly for anything that could be classified as a floss, easily grabbing a power chord hanging from the power outlet and finally, a piece of paper that unstrikingly enough, contained my schedule after classes.
