By now, Aera had gotten her hands on what I made out to be a F-N five-seven, still circled by a wall of men. A crippling fear began stemming into my bones as I followed her line of sight, leading directly to none other than Jeon Jeongguk. Cold, dark and cruel aura alluded from him, his deadly eyes welcoming a group of attackers who charged towards him at once, daring them forward with concealed threat beneath the dark calculated gaze as he lifted a single finger, a wry smirk on his face as he urged them on with a brow.
The previously sneering bastards, confident in their numbers, suddenly hesitated, sharing tentative glances momentarily but finally closing in on him, their intentions clear.
Jeongguk flexed his arm, my heart dropping into a bath of frosty death seeing his jaw tighten in pain. His other arm! Oh no.
His steely gaze however showed no emotions, narrowing as he assessed the situation.
The first attacker lunged at him with a haymaker, but Jeongguk sidestepped with lightning speed, using his opponent's momentum against him. He grabbed the man's arm but flipped him over his shoulder, sending him crashing to the ground with a bone-crunching thud.
Before the others could react, he had drawn a knife from his belt and slashed at the next assailant, catching him across the chest. The man howled in pain, clutching his wound as blood seeped from the gash. But Jeon Jeongguk didn't stop there.
He spun around, using his legs to deliver a series of powerful kicks to the remaining two attackers. His strikes were precise and lethal, taking down one after the other with calculated efficiency. Their grunts and growls filled the air as they crumpled to the ground, unable to withstand the one and only's onslaught.
But the fight was far from over. As Jeongguk turned to face the first assailant who had recovered from the throw, the man lunged at him with a knife of his own. But he deftly dodged the blade, countering with a swift jab to the man's throat. The man gagged, dropping the knife as he stumbled backward, clutching his neck. More joined the group that was steadily falling to the ground.
Now armed with two knives, Jeon expertly wielded them in a deadly combat. He parried and dodged, moving with blinding speed as he sliced through the air, repelling each attack with precise slashes and stabs. The assailants' movements became slower, more desperate, as they realized they were no match no matter the number. Jeongguk was... deadly. He was like a killing machine.
His piercing eyes blazed in a fit of rage when one of them managed to slice a cut across the arm he had fractured. In one seamless motion, he drew a concealed gun from his holster and fired a series of shots at the man until it was impossible to recognize him, mushed into meat and gory images I didn't want to see. The gunshots echoed through the spacious reception of the hotel that was their hideout.
With an exhale, Jeon stood in the midst of the fallen assailants, his breathing heavy, his body covered in sweat and blood. It was a display of his unparalleled combat prowess. He holstered his gun and wiped his brow, sparing a glance at the arm as he moved it just slightly, a gasp of pain exiting me just from sight.
One moment I was sighing in relief and the next, I was holding my breath in, my eyes squeezing shut in intense pain I didn't know was physically possible. I tried not to squirm.
"Stay still."
Mom.
No, Aera! The villainess!
"Drop everything, Jeon..." her voice was dark and firm as ever, as emotionless as it had always been, but it right now, it felt like a hundred shards piercing through my heart like the blade in her hand that pressed more into my throat, shooting a stinging pain down my entire body as the tip dug suddenly.
