Unfortunately, Jae wanted to stick around a bit longer. He made sure I was at his side the entire time.
"Who's this young fella?" Carl Diss (Aka CD) asked. Jae draped his arm over my shoulder. "This is Elinis. He's staying with me for the time being".
Mrs. Diss commented, "He's a handsome boy"."He is". Jae chuckled, "I can't keep the girls off him".
"Excuse me". I murmered. I brushed Jae's arm off of me, "I have to use the restroom".
They all nodded in understanding, except Jae. He just gave me the 'look'.
I kept my head low as I swerved my way through the crowds. The chit chat was giving me a migraine.
"There you are Elin!" A familiar voice called. I stopped in my tracks. Mandy sidled up to me. I stared at her. What the hell was she doing here?
She looked different. Her dark hair was pulled up in a neat bun and her edgy makeup was gone. She was wearing a fitted suit with white fancy gloves.
"What are you doing here?" I hissed.
She crossed her arms, "I'm working. What are you doing here?"Working?
"Im a guest". I answered, more quietly.
"Did you enjoy the speech?"
"Not really". I told in truth.
A strand of her curly hair fell loose. She furiously tucked it behind her ear. Her dark eyes flashed in the direction of a stern looking man. "Wanna duck out of here?""I cant-"
"Rhenna's on his best behaviour tonight?" She teased.
"Fuck off". I tried to manuvour around her, but she blocked me off."I've got some Jack".
The offer was tempting. I cast a look over my shoulder. One drink couldnt hurt.
"Fine".She started to go in the direction of the front door but I stopped her, "Not that way".
She raised a questionable brow.
"Come on".
I led her to the back of the galla. There were too many people at the front entrance."Where are we going?"
I answered her question when we came to the backdoor. It led out into a empty alleyway."Sweet".
She pulled out two (travel size) glasses and handed me one.
"I didnt know you worked at places like these". I said.
She gave a dry laugh, "No one does".
I unscrewed the top and took a drink.A thick silence fell over us until she spoke, "You look different in that suite".
"You dont exactly look the same either". I shot back.
She held up her hands in a "woah calm down" manner. "Jeez, someones uptight".I chugged away the rest of the Jack. I wouldve gone back inside if it wasnt for the second bottle she offered.
"I was only trying to compliment you". She stated.
"Oh".
She pulled out a cigarette then offered me one. I took it.
She lit hers up. "To cancer".
I grimaced, "To fucking cancer".
---------
The air was strangling me.
"Do you think this is a joke?" Jae whispered harshly. His nails were digging into my wrist.
I couldnt look at him."Your a mess Elinis".
The city blurred by. I wanted, more then anything, to be outside on the street curb. I wanted to be the person lookin in. Not out.
"You smell like an ashtray".
I caught Denvis staring back at us.
"I hope your happy".
Why would I be happy? There was nothing to rejoice about.Jae slammed his fist against the cardoor. I jumped.
"I told you to stay away from the alcohal!" He shouted, "And what do you do? You come back twenty minutes later from the 'bathroom' drunk. Smelling like cigarettes"."I'm not drunk". I defended.
I was a little buzzed is all.
"Your dragging my name down".
"I didn't ask for your help". I was trying to be reasonable, but my voice was slowly rising to match his own.
How could he fucking throw this shit in my face! I wasn't his responsibility. He had no legal rights over me. I was a 'guest'.
He grabbed the collar of my shirt and forcefully shoved me onto my back. I didnt have a chance to get up before he was straddling me.
"Get the fuck off me". I growled.
"I'm not sending you back Elinis". He said in a sweet tone.
He forced my hands above my head. He bent down so his mouth was inches from my ear.
"Be a good bitch, wont you?"I bit into my lip as his fingers combed through my gelled hair.
"You make things so difficult sometimes".
The events of tonight were suddenly making me exhausted. It left me open and scared.
I hated this version of Jae.
"Why dont you make it up to me?" He asked seductively. He nibbled at my ear.
"Y-yes Mr. Ventis".
He breathed in my scent, then grimaced. "Take a shower first".
He slid off of me. The speed of my heart was making me sick. I pulled my legs up to my chest and shielded my face.
I was shivering, I realised. But it wasnt from the cold.
I felt nauseated.
I wanted the seats to swallow me whole. Anything to get me out of what was to come when we got back.
I wouldnt even mind if we crashed.
Death couldnt hurt that bad.
