Jae's party was just about as lame as he was. It was a company get together. No booze. Just Champaign. No christmas decoration, unless you count the gold and white Santa hats a few of the guests brought in.
Lame. Lame. And lame.
Everyone here was twice. No, triple my age.
And, of course, Conn wasnt invited even though Mr. Pros was. But he hasn't shown up yet. And I really don't think he will.
The only life of the party was Jae's uncle (who was waisted already). His girlfriend, Kelly, was steering him around like he was some kinda dummy on wheels.
I was sitting on the stairwell, playing with the sleeve of my suite, when Denvis approached me. I guess Jae decided to invite him as well.
"Hay". He said, leaning against the rail.
I didn't look up at him. "Hay".
"Lame ass party huh?"
I snorted and glanced around. "I don't know what christmas eve is supposed to feel like, but this ain't it".
Denvis tapped the metal rungs on the staircase. "Your right kid".
I pushed off the steps and navigated my way through the crowd. I was trying to get to the kitchen, but someone caught my wrist on the way. I flinched and snapped my head around. It was Jae.
He smiled. "What are you up to Elinis?"
I yanked my hand free. "Nothing".
He spread his arms out and turned in a half circle. "Why don't you mingle. Meet the people I work with".
"They seem boring". I said without thinking.
His face fell, but he held back whatever arrogant comment was sitting on the edge of his tongue.
I took his silence as my chance for escape.
I turned to go and nearly bumped into Mitch. He gave me a drunk smile. "Hows it kicking Elin?" He slurred.
"Fine if I could just get to the kitchen". I gritted.
His mouth formed into a silent o and he stumbled out of the way. I took in a deep breath to settle my nerves and continued through the mess of talking people.
I hated when Jae threw parties like these.
I couldn't go anywhere. I was stuck to wait it out.
I poured myself a glass of water from the sink tap, and sipped on it.
Maybe If I could get to the bathroom I could stay in there for a few minutes until some drunk knocked on the door.
I sighed and set down my glass with a clunk. The water splashed over and caught the edge of my sleeve.
Stupid water.
With the bathroom plan in mind I started back to the living room, but stopped when I heard the rise of a familiar voice.
"I know he's here! Dont play me as dumb".
A few heads turned in the direction of the front door.
"Just let me see him Prick!"
Okey. That was defiantly Blondie.
I rushed through the small crowd and stopped just in sight of Blondie; who was bieng blocked off at the door by Jae.
Jae said something, but it was too low for me to catch. Whatever it was just pissed Blondie off even more. He opened his mouth, but froze when he noticed me. "Elin!"
