Eeach growth of a cycle does not require a shell but you may find the sample trying to grow into something flexible (along with any Desirous Yield it may generate) or else it will move from one shell to another as it will try to find something to live in.
In the small amount of time I have spent with it's preperation I have noticed it tends towards human forms, however, we should keep a tight lid on the anthropoidic seal in order to be causious before we begin to experiment with exposing it to long-term anthropid stimuli.
