She woke up screaming last night. Screaming bloody-fucking-murder. She was wheezing when I opened the door, like she couldn't breathe.
Even in death, that motherfucker terrorizes that poor girl.
She scared the hell out of me last night. I managed to fall asleep just as the sun was coming up, and got a couple of hours in before her screaming sounded like an alarm. They were choked cries which got me practically somersaulting out of bed expert spy style, stumbling through my half asleep state to get to her door.
I was in such a rush I didn't bring anything to use against whoever could've been attacking her. It sounded like she was in pain, choking and coughing through whatever was happening to her.
She locked the door before she fell asleep, apparently. Which meant it took longer for me to get into the room for her. I was left to call out to her, begging her to unlock the door.
When I realized that wasn't going to work, I ended up slamming my shoulder over and over into the door. I broke it half off its hinges just to get inside.
I was left to stand there and watch her tossing and turning, screaming as much as she can through her choking.
She fought me when I grabbed her to wake her up. I now have scratch marks up and down my arms but I couldn't care less. Not when she clung to me desperately for the rest of the night.
She didn't want to touch me last night. Now, that's all she's doing. Laying in my bed and gripping onto me, silently begging me to stay put right with her.
I've done what she wanted. I didn't go back to sleep at all, and I've sat up in bed just waiting for her to wake up for a second time.
I know no one is going to come to get her—I know it for a fact. But I still can't sleep. I still sit up all night and guard her like someone's actually going to walk through that door and try to take her from me.
She sleeps for seven more hours. She doesn't toss and turn, she just sleeps soundly. My girl finally gets some time to just sleep in peace without someone terrorizing her.
The only time she starts shifting around is when I think she's waking up. I watch her, holding my breath just in case she's just moving around and wants to sleep some more.
Sophia frowns softly when she opens her eyes. They're pointed away from me, but slowly drift over to meet my eyes.
I give her a little smile. "Good morning, pretty girl." I greet her kindly like the good captor I am.
I guess we're friends now though. I'm not her captor anymore. She's here willingly.
I'm allowed to hold her this way. It's fine.
Sophia frowns up at me. She says nothing, just frowns. I lift my hand to brush some of her hair out of her face.
I don't know what else I can do for her, and I can't believe I let myself lose control right in front of her. I let her stand at the very top of the stairs and watch me.
I had to let her go inside with him, I couldn't kill him out in the open. In a small town like that? No way.
The sound of our struggle would get enough people to glance out their windows to see what's going on. That'd get the street filled with red and blue flashing lights.
