Sophia's still asleep when the sun comes up in the morning. She's curled up in my arms, hugging herself with her face buried in the sweater she took from me yesterday.
She had another nightmare last night, but I don't know if she fully woke up from it. It wasn't as bad as the last one, she wasn't screaming.
More like whimpering, begging him to leave her alone. She told him she was sorry so many times and begged him to stop doing whatever he was doing to her.
It took a little bit to wake her up, and she fought me when she did, but I was able to get her to fall back asleep before she woke up completely.
Her nightmares weren't the reason I wanted her in my room last night, but I think it's a good thing I put her in here with me.
If not, then her nightmare would've progressed to the screaming stage. And then I'd have to burst through her door again. She'd end up in my bed anyway.
I was mostly thinking about my old friend downstairs who has a thing for secrets and being sneaky. I love the guy, but it felt better to have Sophia in my room with me rather than alone in there.
He's supposed to leave today so she'll get her room back like she wants. I just had to have her in mine for last night.
I told her I'd protect her, after all. Even if it's from one of my closest friends. A harmless guy, really.
I skipped just one more night of sleep last night. I was already fairly exhausted, but I couldn't sleep. I know Toby is harmless, but a large part of me just didn't want to take any chances.
So, I stayed up and waited. All night. Again.
I'm exhausted.
But at least she's safe. She wakes up peacefully and yawns, stretching like a starfish.
I get smacked in the face while she throws her arms out to stretch, but she looks pretty while she does it. So. Yeah.
Sophia scoffs at me. "Move." She scowls. Apparently, I'm in her way.
"Sorry." I hum, rolling out of bed to give her the space she needs. She huffs as she starts to sits up, still glaring at me.
I guess she lost the will to stretch some more.
"Are you hungry?" I ask her, already starting to go for the door. I'm going to fall asleep if I don't keep moving.
Sophia scoffs again and does a cool spy-like somersault to get out of bed. I smile at her when she lands impressively with her feet on the ground.
"I got, like, no sleep last night." She complains on a grumble, shuffling past me to get to the door.
"No kidding." I hum as I follow her out.
She was snoring.
Sophia goes down the stairs first, venturing off. She tries to stay quiet, tiptoeing carefully down the steps to be mindful of Toby.
"Toby!" I shout out for him which makes Sophia jump. She scoffs at me, I smile at her and walk around her to go into the living room.
