✶𝙶𝚛𝚎𝚢✶

I've never had a person around me as often as I do Sophia. I mean, Toby and I were close. Tucker too.

But we weren't around each other twenty-four/seven like Sophia and I are. Not to mention they're both guys. I've never been around a girl like this before.

I almost don't know what to do with myself.

Not to mention the weird attraction I still haven't quite figured out yet. The attraction I noticed the moment I saw her. It's still there, just as strong as ever. I think being around her has just made it stronger.

I should figure this out soon though. She wants to stay with me now, but who knows what the future has in store for us.

She has Toby's number now. She could quite possibly leave me and start up her life out there. There's nothing else for her with me.

I try shaking the less-than-ideal idea off for now. It's not something I'd like to think about.

I unlock the door then toss it open. "Sophia!" I shout for her and move towards the kitchen.

I don't hear the tv, so I'm expecting her to start coming down the stairs from her room.

"I didn't know what you wanted, so I got you a cheeseburger and a regular one." I warn, keeping my voice at a higher volume. "When we're finished, we can go out on the road." I add on a hum.

While I'm waiting for her to come down, I start unpacking the brown paper bag. But I finish that within seconds and glance over at the empty doorway when I don't even hear her bedroom door open.

I frown and step closer to the doorway, peeking out to the stairs. "Soph?" I call. Then sigh deeply when I don't get an answer. "If you're asleep right now," I grumble, beginning up the stairs.

That girl sleeps way too much for her own good. She sleeps everywhere too, she doesn't even care.

I knock on her door before slowly opening it. My eyebrows furrow at the empty room, but I approach the bed anyway and pull back the blankets.

As I expected, there's nothing under the blanket. She's not in here, so I slowly leave and move over to my room. But I don't think she's in here.

My room turns up empty.

I huff and start going back down the stairs, checking the living room before I remember her garden outside.

My anxiety calms on the way to the backdoor, but grows again the moment I open the door and see the back of the cabin completely empty.

My eyes narrow at this one squirrel who sprints across the open area and towards one of the trees that surround us.

It's not what I'm looking for, so I go back in and shut the door behind me.

"Sophia!" I call, checking the laundry room before I keep walking down the hall. "Hey, Soph. Come on, dinner's here." I urge, stepping back into the kitchen.

Maybe I missed her.

I go back and check all the rooms again, this time a little more quickly. My voice gets louder the further I go through the house, urging her to come out of whatever room she's in. She doesn't.
