I'm distracted. Way too fucking distracted.
I was just supposed to do this quick, but I have to wait. I can't do this while I'm distracted with a fucking hard on.
If I knew she was going to try something new, I'd have asked her for my kiss tomorrow. It would've meant I'd have to wait for it, but it would've also meant I wouldn't have something so distracting on my mind while I'm busy.
I'm too far off tonight. I let Mick get away with too much when I got into his apartment.
I only got lucky when he stumbled back and hit his head on the corner of his air conditioning.
At first, I thought the fall meant I was off the hook. But then he started grumbling and moving around.
It was annoying but luckily, I had a plan already. It was actually easier to go along with the plan with him practically passed out.
His apartment building sucks and doesn't have any cameras, so it was easy for me to just toss his arm over my shoulder and pretend I was escorting a very drunk man out to my car.
It's a bit of a drive to get to the abandoned building I wanted to take him to. I'm extra lucky the stupid kids of this town are taking a break from their drinking parties and 'ghost hunting' in the building.
So, now here Mick and I are, carrying out the act my mother demanded of me. I don't really want to do this to this specific dude, but whatever.
Mick's hysterical, begging and pleading for me to leave him alone before I really even have done anything.
"Please, I don't understand!" He shouts. I'd rather he not. "What is this about? What did I do?"
I sit on my haunches in front of him, playing with my knife with my elbows on my knees. My expression is dry under the mask that Soph called stupid.
"Bethany Langston." I declare. "You dated her, right?"
Mick doesn't have the reaction I expected. His eyes don't widen in horror in understanding. He doesn't immediately start negotiating.
Instead, Mick huffs and frantically looks around the room. "I—Yes." He nods. "Yes, yes, we broke up a few months ago. Why does that matter?"
"You've been stalking her and her baby." I point out, lightly dragging the tip of my finger along the sharp blade of my knife.
"What?" Mick seems genuinely surprised. "No—I...What?" His voice slows and lowers, staring at me dumbly.
I perk up. "Bethany Langston." I repeat, like he forgot her name. "You've been stalking and..." I pause when he still has no reaction. "And threatened her life." I quietly add.
"What?" Mick shakes his head at me. "No!" He shouts. "I haven't threatened Beth with anything except court." He scoffs.
I stare at him. "Court."
"Yeah!" Mick shouts, struggling in his seat. "She won't let me see my little girl! I've already got a lawyer hired!" He frantically explains. "Jesus—Did she put you up to this?" Mick questions.
