Halloween Festival.
October 31st.
It was the evening of All Hallows, in Greenacres and Serena Fitzpatrick was in midst of preparing a traditional to have a night in her small living room and watch Halloween movies on television, lounge on her worn leather sofa, and small bowl of sour lollies. By candlelight.
Two years ago, she used to share night with her uncle Fenris, who began this strange tradition and her legal guardian to watch films. She would Invite her friends, but they were either too busy these days with work, social, or family these days, she could not bother them, so she kept to herself.
Earlier that evening she had bought confectionary from the grocery store and filled a bowl of candy she had set up in the entrance hall, on a small oak table, ready for the little monsters and ghouls, that frequent the streets around sunset. Quiet and simple. Just the way she liked it. But for some reason that very evening, she found unlike most nights, she was restless to go outside for some fresh air and take a stroll, it would help to get some quality time for herself away from the house then again she had been covering shifts for colleagues all week, she deserved a little treat for all her hard work every now and again. While strolling around town, Serena sees an advertisement for a festival being held in local town square, with its bright orange background, bold gothic letters:
Halloween Festival.
One-night spook that'll be a night you will never forget.
Free entry with costumes lots to do and see at All Hallows Festival with Frankie's band performing at the venue.
This looks like fun.
Serena decided to go to the festival. Looked down at her attire of faded blue jeans, sneakers, and print shirt. This may not right thing to wear. But first she will need a costume. Glad she decided to bring her purse with her wherever she goes. She went to the bright shopping district, browsing in one of the stores she found a nice witch costume with ankle boots and a witch's hat with fake hair. Better choice, the place sells costumes and allows customers to buy a costume for hire.
Perfect within her set budget. The employee was nice enough to provide a shopping bag, to store her belongings in, it was good service.
The Greenacre town square had been transformed into a spooky square with all sorts of decorations from the black and orange tinsel strung along the roofs, light poles across the square to the fake spiders attached to them with fake cobwebs, statue of witches, werewolf. Grim reaper, haybales, pumpkins set around the square with light glowing out of their carves eyes and mouths, fake gravestones R.I. P inscribed on plastic surface, booths for seances five dollars for a fortune, psychic readings or good luck charms, it is the night of veil between worlds of living and the dead were thin, spirits said to wonder among the living on this night, masks and costumes blend in with all.
There were tables set up for refreshments, stalls with merchants selling all sorts of wares and goodies on display, a small stage had been set up near the middle of the square, grass area, with a local band performing classic Halloween hits, most of all with people dressed up in costumes walking around the square. There were even some Mexican white masks with paint looked like skeletons on display and selling fast.
