A few months later
"Don't lie to me" sulked Jeongin while intently looking at Yena. "I'm not lying, I swear," the girl said shocked, and turned to Jeongin. "How did the feelings suddenly appear?" he asked in disbelief.
They were in a wedding shop, looking for a dress for Yena. "Do you know these enemies-to-lovers tropes? Yes, that's how it went" the girl grinned to show her love for the boy.
"That wasn't in any way some kind of trope you two had, you never met him in your free time" "I did, you just never knew" protested the girl. "Didn't you tell me that you can't go anywhere in your free time?" asked Jeongin in suspicion.
"Can you help?" asked Yena trying to get down the podium. Without hesitation the boy ran up to Yena, holding up a part of the dress, and slowly walked down.
"Because Minho comes from a wealthy house, they don't mind" grinned Yena, proud of her lie. "And why did you never tell me?" asked Jeongin visibly hurt. He thought he was her best friend but not even telling him about her relationship really hurt him.
"I needed to stay in the act that we hate each other, I couldn't risk anyone suddenly exposing us" said Yena and turned to Jeongin with a look of guilt.
She really didn't want to lie to her best friend but she made a deal with him. But an exception doesn't hurt, right? Jeongin was always on Yena's side and especially because he was younger she didn't want to lie.
"Like you say" the boy said hurt and sat back down on the couch. Yena went to the changing room to try on the next dress. In the room, Yena thought again about telling Jeongin the truth.
At a specific point, it would be too hard for her to hide the truth if some years pass. If she wants the friendship to stay, she needs to be honest with him.
"Jeongin" said Yena, procrastinating from the inside to make the move. "Yes?" Jeongin asked, still on the couch waiting for his best friend to appear.
"Actually-" Yena started but stopped surprised to find her mother in the shop. She stood beside the couch, tears in her eyes as she examined her daughter.
She never felt this proud of herself, bringing her daughter to marry someone with 18 years. Even if it's for this generation too early, her mother felt different about it as she herself was married at 19.
The love between the two parents faded pretty fast but she still was happy to have had a marriage. "You look beautiful" the mother said, wiping the tears away.
Completely baffled by her mom's sudden visit and reaction, she only looked panicked at Jeongin. He stood up and soothed the mother "It's okay" he smiled and sat her down on the couch.
"I'm so happy you're getting married" the mother cried out and went to Yena to grab her cheeks. "Mom" the girl whined, freeing herself from the grip.
Her plan to confess to Jeongin was ruined. She knew she needed to do that when they were alone at his or her home.
The bell from the door of the shop is audible and the trio turned to the door, seeing Minho with his mom and Chan enter the shop. A panicked shriek left out of Yena's mother's mouth before jumping up and trying to cover the bride.
Yena kneeled and speed walked back to the changing rooms, not ready to let Minho make jokes about her in a wedding dress. "What does the groom do here?" Yena's mother asked surprised and walked over to the other mother.
"We just wanted to make sure the bride is doing alright with the search for the perfect dress" the mother of Minho answered with sincere joy for the wedding. Yena listened, being sure it was his mother forcing him to come along.
