Ninjago : Kai's dark secret

Chpt 11 - unconscious

Zane's POV -

Eventually rebooting myself, the atmosphere was extremely quiet, as if all sound disappeared. Slowly sitting up, Kai's door was completely destroyed into a oblivion, what happened here? Standing to full height now, something intriguing caught my eye in an instant.

Approaching this unknown object or being, it was Cole, completely unconscious. Kneeling, blood slowly trickled down his forehead, yet no sign of Kai's body anywhere. Glancing around frantically, where could he have gone?

Slowly stepping into the corridor, every single light had been blown out, strange, especially I couldn't detect any human heat signatures either.

"Kai? Lloyd? Anyone?". I called out, while cautiously walking around the extremely emptied hallway.

Lloyd's POV -
Getting punched rapidly by an uncontrollable Kai, where was Zane? Or Cole for that matter.Glancing around slowly with only my eyes, there was no one presence in the Underground , not even Pixel, why was this happening? And so sudden too.

Breathing shakily, fist struggling to shield my face from incoming punches, I was baffled on this sudden attack, especially how injured Kai is,he definitely shouldn't be able to fight so effectively and easily.

(Before Attack) - Lloyd's POV -
Carefully glaring at the multiple screens, Garmadon started ringing, finally I heard from them, I wonder why that took so long.

"Hey Lloyd, we're all currently in Ninjago City trying to hunt down Nya and Jay, nothing yet, how's it on your end?". Staring at my shaky hands, I was extremely fatigued from not being able to sleep, especially after what happened with Kai. "Nothing much, Zane's with Kai, Cole's training and I'm obliviously on stand by".

Hearing muffled voices in the background, Garmadon finally spoke up again. "Lloyd if anything happens call*}#}". Before Garmadon could even finish, within an instant everything completely malfunctioned, frying the phone line in the process.

Carefully summoning a ball of green energy within my palm, trying to radiate any source of light,Pixel wasn't even here to help and I had no knowledge on repairing fried wires, great just great. Turning around slowly, the elevator shouldn't be too far away, good.

Reaching my free hand towards the elevator activation button, something inhuman crashed landed onto the elevator shaft. Springing backwards, I was completely defenceless and vulnerable, I'd just hoped it was Cole or Zane and not some inhuman monster.

(Current) -

Lloyd's POV -
Knees beginning to shake uncontrollably, Kai wasn't even breaking a sweat, meaning I won't be able to keep up with this Oni of a monster for long.

Gasping for air, he'd completely collapsed my lungs, not being able to breathe for much longer, there was definitely no chance of survival in this scenario. Tears swelling in my faded green eyes, Kai was in a completely feral state of mind, fighting on bloodlust alone.

"K-Kai". I tried pleading, only to violently cough up blood onto Kai's chest, yet he didn't stop, even his eyes revealed there was no more of himself left in his corrupt soul.

Ready to collapse, a migraine started violently causing my forehead to break out into an uncontrollable sweat, not good, I was nearly out of energy. Weakly smiling at the Oni in front of me, I guess this was the end. Accepting fate, that's when a miracle happened.

Crashing harshly onto my knees, Kai was inches away from ending it all in one fatal swipe, farewells brothers, I tried. Closing my eyelids, surprisingly there wasn't an agonising pain or blood spurting out, weird.

Zane's POV -
Angrily snarling, I'd managed to completely freeze the Oni in reinforced ice, giving me a small window to grab Lloyd and head for the courtyard immediately.

Cole's POV -

Sleepily sitting straight up, a warm breeze brushed past my face, wait was I outside? Frantically glancing around, someone had moved me to the courtyard but why? Did something bad happen? No the monastery was still intact, so why then?

About to force myself to stand, surprisingly Zane rushed over to me, pushing me back down, however that's when I'd noticed a fresh cut deep enough to kill a human not Nindroid on Zane's face, what happened in there?

"Cole please rest, Wu and the others are hurriedly heading home, I've managed to contain that THING but I don't know for how long". Lifting a confused brow, I heard faint gasping to my left.

Turning my head, there laid Lloyd completely beaten to a pulp, what happened in the underground lair I wonder. Painfully shuffling to his location, Zane only stared at us intensely, not saying a single word anymore.

Zane's POV -
Fist tightly clenched, I felt oil beginning to leak out of the severe wound on my entire cheek. Not concerned for myself, I only cared for Lloyd and Cole, fortunately Cole hadn't got too injured, unlike Lloyd.

Painfully scanning Lloyd from a fair distant, Cole cautiously sat directly next to him, feeling his pulse.

"Cole I'm afraid Lloyd's suffered a dangerous amount of damage, luckily his Oni blood can heal him sufficiently well, unfortunately it may take a few days or even a couple of weeks". Noticing Cole faintly nod, however he was mainly concentrated on Lloyd, so I didn't bother to inform him of his Diagnostics, which wasn't as severe.

About to inform Cole of our situation, the monastery gate began opening, meaning more aid has arrived, which made me extremely glad, however that THING would be our next problem after we've helped Lloyd and Cole. There will definitely be a great battle on our hands, I only hope Kai can regain consciousness before that THING takes complete control over his body.
