Chapter 14

As we start to get closer to the party, Skylar spots my mum.

"Hey Mace, isn't that your mum?"

"Yeah, I thought she was at work today but she isn't wearing her work clothes or even in her work clothes, I'm so confused" I say

"Omg she is with some guy! And they are making out! Ooh juicy!!!" she says and nudges me

We stand there and watch her and I am quite disgusted but kinda proud of her at the same time, she has a boyfriend! I can't believe it, and she hasn't even told me! I wonder if jade knows. We wait until they stop kissing to try and see who the mystery guy is. As they pull away from each other, Skylar says

"OH MY GOD is that........... MY DAD!"

 

We both stand there is silence not knowing whether it is a dream or not. This cant be real, our parents can't be dating! My mum doesn't date! I mean I guess it's a good thing that she is dating again but does it have to be Michael (Skylar's dad) YUCK! And all this time she says that she gets called out to work, she really must be seeing Michael! Yuck, I wonder what they do, they are both so old they probably just go for coffee or something. I hope so. We both look at each other and start to put it aside and go to pick up Jade.

As we are walking on the street of jades friends house, we start to see all the little girls with their mums leaving in their BMW's and Porsche's. We walk up to the door and I can't seem to see Jade anywhere. We ask the little girl who answered the door where she was

"Hey, is jade here anywhere?"

"She left like ages ago"

"Well do you know where she went!?" I am starting to get really stressed

"Um, I don't know, she went that way" she says and points towards the direction of my house.

Few, she must have gone home. I hope she is okay, I wonder why she left?

"Why did she leave?" I say in an angry tone

"I have no idea" she says and starts to laugh

I give her a death stare and walk away with Skylar.

"I hope she is at home" I say to Skylar

"Yeah me too, imagine how much trouble you will get in, you will be grounded for sure"

"Yeah, I know, I just hope she is okay, if anything happened to her, I really don't know what I would do" I say and my eyes start to water but I try to hold them back.

"Hey, its okay, I'm sure she is fine. She is quite smart so don't worry about it, we will find her" she says trying to comfort me

As we finally reach the driveway of my house, I see Jade curled in a ball sitting at the door crying.

"JADE! What's wrong?"

"They were so mean to me!"

"What! Who was!?"

"Sally! And all her friends! They said that they only invited me to make fun of me!" this sounds too familiar

"I know how you feel J, forget about them"

"I ran home as fast as I could and I don't have a key so I have been sitting here for hours crying, they hurt me. They kept hitting me and pushing me around, they even stole $10 that mummy gave me incase of an emergency" she continues to cry

"Come here" I say and open my arms gesturing for a hug to comfort her, it works. She practically jumps into my arms and I wrap my arms around her small body while she cries constantly. I feel so bad for her; I never knew that she didn't have any friends, just like me. Well except I have Skylar, she has nobody that must be why she is always so excited to talk to me and hang out with me. I decide not to tell Jade about my mum and her new "boyfriend", she is so upset right now and I don't want to tell her something that might make her even more upset.

We walk inside and I let jade come up to my room and we talk and watch some TV. Skylar's dad comes to pick her up coincidentally just when my mum comes home – well not really a coincidence anymore. Skylar and I look at each other with a sleigh look on our faces when she leaves. I wonder if my mum is going to tell what is going on. I will give her a week and if she doesn't I will have to confront her.
