Chapter 3 - extended family

24th December

Rosetta's POV:

Everyone is coming here for Christmas, me and James are hosting, there all coming here today; this afternoon and then they're staying the night and Christmas night. So I am very busy cleaning with Hally whilst my husband is at work after an attack on Hogsmead early this morning. Fires were started and shops were smashed and ruined, no deaths have been confirmed yet but that doesn't mean there hasn't been any.

I continue cleaning the kitchen counters as I shake the horrible thoughts from my head.
Finally the kitchen is spotless, and luckily this is the last room to clean so I grab myself a water and sit down for a second.

Knock

I head to the door and open it to see Rory and Rosalie are the first to arrive
"Merry Christmas" I call as I hug them both
"Merry Christmas" they reply and we head to the living room
"I'll show you to your room once everyone's arrived" I inform them as a knock is heard at the door again "one second"
I open the door to find Sirius and Remus on the other side "hi you two"
"Merry Christmas!" They both cheer
"Merry Christmas" I pause "oh come on in" we all laugh as they head in to meet the other couple in the living room. I go to shut the front door as I hear a very familiar voice
"Rosie!" I roll my eyes as I turn back around
"Reggie!" I hug him and then hug Kayla
"Merry Christmas Rose" Kayla wishes
"Merry Christmas you two, come on in" they follow me in to meet with the other couples in the living room
"Hey everyone, the party can now begin!" Reg cheers as he approaches his brother giving him a hug and then greets everyone else

Knock knock

I head to the door and open it to find my sister on the other side
"Lily"
"Merry Christmas" we hug and then we head into the living room to meet the others, we both sit down as Rory clears his throat

"Now that we're all here, well minus James but I'm sure you'll tell him Rose; me and Rosalie have some news, we held off from telling you all for some time because Rosalie wasn't coping well with it but since we all know about Lily we thought we'd fess up." Lily's mouth falls open
"Your pregnant" she turns to Rosalie
"What?!" The rest of us chorus
"I am" she nods, my mouth falls open as I try to process this, my twin brothers going to be a dad "a little girl, due in May" she tells us
I shake my head to shake off the look of complete shock and splutter
"Congratulations" the rest of the group then join in hugging the two as an apparation sound is heard from outside "that should be James, I'll go check"

I head outside my mind spinning from the news that has just been brought to our attention; I guess Lily's baby will have a cousin the same age which should be good. I wonder as I see my husband approaching me
"Are they here?" He wraps his arm around my shoulders heading towards the door but I quickly stop him with a hand on his chest
"I need to tell you something first" he eyes me seemingly worried
"Rosalie is pregnant with a little girl due in May" I quickly divulge
"What?" His eyes go wide "she's pregnant?"
"Yeah they just told us, apparently Rosalie hasn't been coping which is why they didn't say anything until now" i tell him
"Okay makes sense I guess" we both walk inside silently meeting with the others and James being James walks in and says, loudly, "I hear your pregnant" I roll my eyes
"Yes" Rosalie nods confirming it
"Congrats" he pats her on the back "I'll show you all to your rooms for your Christmas stay" everyone leaves with James apart from Rosalie who follows me to the kitchen

"How are you feeling Rosalie?" I ask the distracted girl
"Terrified"
"Why what is it that's scaring you so much?" I ask gently
"Look you had loving parents but I didn't I used to idolise my parents; I don't want my child to end up the same as me. What if when I have this child I end up becoming them, my parents?" She rests her head in her hands
"Rosalie your nothing like your parents, maybe you were but your not now, you changed and because of that your baby will look up to you and if she is anything like you she will be strong and independent but kind." She smiles a teary eyed smile
"Thanks"
"How did I become the advice giver or comforter?" I voice aloud causing Rosalie to laugh
"I don't know but it suits you" she pauses "I was really looking forward to this Christmas surrounded by family, I mean we are family"
"Yeah because you married my brother for some reason"
"Hey!" Rory calls from behind me, I laugh at the look on my brothers face

"Should we have a drink in the dining room?" James suggests as he holds out his hand for me, I take it and we adjourn to the dining room and all have a fire whiskey apart from Lily and Rosalie of course.

It had only been around an hour and Sirius is already drunk out of his mind, he is now dancing around as he sings in peoples faces.

"Sirius slow down!" Rem calls as Sirius clumsily pours himself another drink
"No fun" Sirius laughs as he pokes Remus on his nose, Remus rolls his eyes
"Can't take him anywhere" Remus places his head in his arms on the table

"Sirius give me that!" James calls as he chases Sirius around trying to get back his wand "give me it back"
"James!" I try to grab his attention to no avail
"Give me it back Sirius!" I roll my eyes
"James!" No response
I get up and head to the other end of the table to join Rosalie and Lily who are talking about baby stuff.
"What name are you thinking for the little girl?" Lily asks
"Yeah Rory wants to name her after a flower he was thinking Dahlia or Iris, maybe Pansy" Rosalie tells us
"I like Pansy" I tell her
"Yeah same here"
