Chapter 1 - married life

15th November

Rosetta's POV:

"You remember I'm going to Lily's after work?!" I call to my husband who is in the en-suite having a shower
"What was it for again?" He calls back, surprising me by the fact that he even remembers I'm going to see my sister
"I have no idea, but she sounded really nervous on the phone so I'm concerned!" I call back, I love having a muggle phone because there less likely to be intercepted by death eaters who reject the premise of anything muggle.
"I'm sure it will be fine" he pauses as he turns the shower off entering the room soaking wet in just a towel "maybe she's got a boyfriend" he laughs
"Be realistic" I roll my eyes, Lily's not interested in relationships at the minute especially with this war going on.
"I know, I know" he raises his hands up in surrender, "where's my shirt?" He wonders aloud and I head over to his part of the wardrobe and throw it at him
"Did you even look?" He winks and heads back into the bathroom, coming back out fully changed
"Let me know how it goes with Lil" he nods
"Will do" I reply as I pull on a black jacket, i huff looking in the mirror "I hate my job" I rest my head on the mirror
"Hopefully you'll find something else soon, when it's the right time" he kisses my head before spinning around and heading out shouting "I love you!" As he does
"I love you too" I call back as I look at my reflection one more time before heading downstairs myself and over to the fireplace "Diagon Alley" I call as I throw the floo powder down and I am picked up and dropped in Diagon Alley I head out and see others heading to work. I wave at a few as I head past walking towards Flourish and Blotts, I take a deep breath dreading the day, before unlocking the door and heading inside. First things first I clear up the floor and surfaces before putting books back in the right place and I open up.

It's a quiet day which means a lot of sitting around waiting for the day to finish. I pick up a book and start reading hoping to pass the time a bit quicker.
"Hey stranger!" I look up to see one of my favourite customers
"Don't tell me you finished that book already" i eye him as he looks down sheepishly
"I need a new book" he states
"Remus! You know I hate my job just look around and get something" I moan
"Where's the fun in that?" He chuckles "no luck anywhere then?" He asks
"Nope, I'm losing the will to live" I place my head in my arms on the desk
"Don't be so dramatic"

"This one's pretty good" I hold out the book I had been reading "to do with two wizards who fall in love, but it's forbidden"
"Okay I'll take it" he pays for the book and heads out as more people come in.

After a very long day I floo to Lily's little apartment in muggle London.
"Hey!" I cheer just thankful the days over
"Hi!" She calls back getting up from the sofa to come and hug me. We both sit down opposite each other at the table
"So you sounded odd on the phone so what's up?" I ask her a little nervous as I await her reply, she gets up and grabs a box and hands it to me "Lils what's going on?" I ask as I open the box to see a doll "okay now I'm really confused" I move the doll and there's a little bag underneath it I pick it up and take out the little object, a plastic stick of sorts. I turn it around to see a little screen and the nervous smile falls off my face suddenly and I look over to Lily or more specifically her stomach.
"I'm pregnant" she starts crying and I just look at her in complete shock
"Who? When? I don't......"
"It was a complete mistake, a one time thing, I didn't think, I don't...." She stutters
"It's okay you don't need to tell me, how are you feeling about it?" I ask her as I move my chair closer to her in case she needs a hug.
"Terrified, I've never wanted kids, you know I never wanted kids" she stutters as she cries
"Look, yes, you never wanted kids but neither did mum, when she fell pregnant with Petunia she wasn't happy with it but then she went on to have you and then me and Rory. This could be the making of you, at least you don't hate the idea like mum did. This baby will be lucky to have you" i tell her sincerely
"It won't have a dad, he can't be involved"
"The baby may not have a dad, but it will have me, Rory, Rosalie, James, Sirius, Remus, Peter and the Longbottoms and Reg and Kayla that's a lot of love to go around and the baby will have so much support" Lily leans over to hug me
"I needed this"
"I'll be here for you, we all will" we hug and when I let go i ask the question I've been dying to ask "what gender do you want it to be?" Lily chuckles through her tears
"I don't know probably a girl, because I'm a girl at least I'd know a bit about what to do and what to teach" she shrugs
"And you can get cute girly muggle toys and little baby shoes" i shriek like a child
"Do you want kids someday?" I look up at her
"James does, like really does but he's not pushing it. Probably someday because I know it'll break his heart if we don't and I want him to get what he wants" I shrug

We continue to chat about random stuff and eventually after we eat something I head home. I sigh as I enter the living room
"Rose!"
"James!" I call back "what are you doing back so soon?" I ask
"Wanted to be here when you got back!" He exclaims
"Awww" I blush
"So what did Lily want, was it as bad as you thought?" He asks as I hear him open a cupboard
"Yeah she's pregnant" there's a short silence before I hear something smash. I quickly get to my feet and head to the kitchen to check on him. "You okay?" he turns to me wide eyed
"Did you say she's pregnant? Like baby in stomach? Pregnant?"
"What else would it be?"
"When? Who's the father?" He asks
"Don't know, she wouldn't fess up" I shrug
"Erm how's she dealing with it?"
"Not well, she's never wanted kids so I think she's just scared but I said we'd be there for her"
"Of course we will" he wraps an arm around my shoulder as he uses his wand to fix the cup "who would have thought Lily would have a baby before you would?" I chuckle awkwardly, he's been bringing this up more and more and it just makes me feel uncomfortable. "I'm not saying now, there's no need to panic" James rubs my shoulders affectionately
"I know"
