Chapter 9 - St Mungo's

Rosetta's POV

31st July
9:12 am

I jolt awake hearing someone scream, it takes me a while to gain my bearings
"Lily!" I quickly catch on, stumbling out of bed down the hall. I enter the room to see my sister holding her stomach in pain
"Hospital" she states "he's coming!" She squeals as another contraction takes over
"James!" I call, I hear him rush down the corridor, he enters just wearing underwear clearly not having had the time to put clothes on
"Ew put clothes on" Lily whines holding a hand over her eyes, her other hand still clutching her stomach. I roll my eyes and turn to James who had stepped slightly out of the room for Lily's sake
"she's having contractions, I'm going to take her to st Mungos; but I have to get changed first so keep an eye on her" I instruct as I kiss his cheek before running back to our room to change into a pair of black jeans and a plain white shirt, once my hairs up in a messy bun I relieve James who heads to our room to change "I'll go now, meet us there!" I call holding Lily's arm as we head to the fireplace
"Okay!" He calls back "love you and good luck Lils"
"Love you!" I call back before taking a fistful of floo powder and calling "St Mungos" i throw the floo powder down and we arrive at Mungos reception "come on" I hold my sisters arm tight, thankful that the contractions finished as she's no longer screaming "my sisters having a baby" i tell the receptionist who looks bored
"Name?" She asks lazily
"Lily Evans"
"A medi-witch will be here soon" not a minute later does a medi-witch come with a bed
"Miss Evans, lay on here" she instructs as she places a spell on the bed to float it with us "how long have the contractions been going on for?" She asks
"About ten minutes" Lily replies
"They shouldn't be this bad now" the medi-witch mutters
"She's been overdoing it with her magic" i tell her
"That'll probably be why then" she nods understandingly, we enter a private room "will you be staying?" She asks me
"Yes the dads not involved; I'm Lily's sister" i tell her quickly
"Ah no problem" she nods "now I hate to tell you this Miss Evans but it could still be a while, I have a few patients so if you need some medical attention please head to the desk on this floor" she instructs "I'll be back soon to check on you" and she leaves
"Thanks for getting me here" Lils says turning to me

The door bursts open to reveal a disheveled looking James
"Hey sweetie" I kiss him lightly and we pull away quickly hearing Lily cough "sorry" I turn to look at her
"I got in touch with Rory, I said I'd keep him in touch and I saw Alice with her son just down the hall" James tells us
"Awww" Lily gushes before grabbing her stomach "here comes another" it only lasts a couple of minutes and she's back to normal
"They said it could still be a while" i tell my husband
"Would you like me to get you anything?" James asks Lily
"A book?" She asks unsurely, James rolls his eyes
"Any specific requests?" He asks
"No" she shrugs
"Okay I'll be back soon"

Lily screams and screams in pain. How I wish I could take away her pain.
"A few more pushes and your baby will be here" the medi-witch tells us
"No" Lily shakes her head tiredly
"Come on Miss Evans" they encourage and I quickly take Lily's hand
"For Harry, it's for Harry" she starts pushing again and it's not long before he's here.

Lily leans her head on the cushion clearly exhausted, but the moment she sets eyes on her baby boy she sits up wasting no time in taking him in her arms.
"Hi Harry, I'm your mummy" she cries
"We'll give you some time, congratulations" the main medi-witch states as the three witches leave, leaving me, Lily and Harry alone.
"He's got your eyes" I comment looking between them both
"Thanks for being here, I don't think I could have done it without you here" she smiles not taking her eyes off of Harry
"That's what sisters are for" I gently hug her making sure not to squish little Harry

We hear a small knock on the door and I see James in the little window
"It's James" i tell Lily
"Come in, come in!" She calls and he pushes the door open gently and he's suddenly at Lilys side looking at Harry
"He looks so much like you" he comments "he's got your eyes" he states, Lily sniffles
"That's what Rose said" she says "you want to hold him James, he is your nephew after all" James wastes no time in picking up Harry, James is silent for a second before he turns to me, his eyes glistening with hope and I already know what he's going to say before he even says it
"I want one" I sigh
"I know you do"
"No, Rose I want one now" my eyes go wide
"What?" I question hoping I'd heard him wrong
"We'll be great parents, why wait?" After what I just saw the last thing on my mind is having a baby myself but I don't say that
"Can we talk about this later in private?" I ask and he nods looking back down at Harry "Lils how are you feeli-?" I pause when I see she's fallen fast asleep. "Did you contact Rory again?" I whisper to James
"Yep, they said they'd meet Harry when he's home apparently Pansy's keeping them up at night and there both exhausted"
"And you think no sleep sounds great?" I question smugly
"Huh?" He tilts his head confused
"You want a kid now, you know often not sleeping comes with it" i tell him
"Stop trying to talk me out of it" he rolls his eyes
"Worth a shot" I shrug as I stand in front of James with my arms out "can I?" He hands Harry to me and I rock him gently feeling a little uncomfortable.
I nearly jump when Lily snaps up in bed "are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah" she mutters and I pass her her son. "Hi Harry" she kisses the little boys head and I smile softly watching the interaction.

She'll be the best mum.
