Linda looked up from changing the bed sheets to see Danny standing sheepishly by the dresser. She smiled a little bit, "can I help you?"

He walked up to her, holding his hands behind his back. His smile indicated that he was up to something— quite possibly no good. "You look beautiful."

Linda laughed, "I'm in ratty old pajamas, no make up, and my hair is a greasy mess."

"Still you look beautiful."

She put her hand on her hip, "okay. What did you do?"

"Who said I did anything?"

"Danny."

"Okay fine. We arrested a jewelry store owner a few days ago for murder."

"Okay...?" She didn't know why laughter was caught in her throat. Maybe she was a little excited. Did Danny get her a present?

"And while there, a memory came back."

He kept stopping, clearly wanting his wife to answer, which drove Linda crazy, but she answered nonetheless.

"And what memory was that?"

"That's the place I got your engagement ring from." Danny pointed to her left hand and she held up her hand.

Linda took three seconds to examine her engagement ring before looking back at Danny, fake disappointment on her face. "You mean it didn't come from Tiffany's?"

"You are awful," he said with absolutely no malice.

"Show me what's behind your back, and I might be a good girl."

He shook his head with a smile. "A few pieces of jewelry caught my eye. So I went back, after the owner was in jail and the paperwork was done. And I got you this."

Danny handed Linda the long black and gold box, and held his breath, gaging her reactions.

"You got me a necklace?" She opened the box and a small smile spread across her lips. In the box was a gold chain with a small horseshoe charm. She slid it out of the box, held it between her fingers, inspecting it. "It's so cute, thank you."

She gave him a kiss, "help me put it on?"

She turned around and he clasped it around her neck. "Do you know why I got you a horseshoe?"

Linda faced him again and shook her head. She was obsessed with horses in third and fourth grade, but she highly doubted that was the reason.

"When I saw it, I immediately thought about luck. And how I'm the luckiest man in the world to have such an amazing, sexy, compassionate, and caring wife. So every time you wear it, you'll be reminded of how much I love you."

"Oh, Danny, I don't need a reminder," she put her arms around his neck. She kissed him passionately, "And I feel the exact same way about you."
