y/n l/n has not meant to live a life of naivety.
she is but a compassionate girl whose tender heart yearns to help those who will simply ask.
this, like every tale of a beautiful heroine who breaches the boarders of malice, means she has gathered quite the collection of foes.
even through their blatant disregard of y/n's quiet existence,
she welcomes them with gentle palms made for malleable loving.
y/n doesn't know this,
but her empathetic precociousness and soft living has made the boys with sharp canines drool with the possibility of sinking their sinful teeth into her flesh and draining her of her greatest quality:
her kindness.
this has proven to be a challenge of great difficulty because for every grotesque monster of a boy who dreams of sickeningly sweet y/n's demise,
there to defend her are the friends y/n has made throughout her life.
all willing to fight to the end for her,
all willing to protect her from threats she cannot fathom.
"you really think so?"
y/n asks sarah cameron now as she sits against the bed,
watching her friend pick away at the clothes in her closet.
"yes, y/n,"
sarah repeats for what feels like the hundredth time today,
smiling under her friends disbelief.
"i'm telling you! show a little leg and show him what he's missing."
the idea of wearing something as racy as the skin tight clothing sarah purchased to a party where many eyes will be on her forces up a vicious blush.
y/n isn't ignorant to the kinds of comments and stares her body in it's entirety will warrant,
but is she daring enough?
is it worth catching the attention of the boy who palmed her tender heart?
"okay. hand it here."
sarah cameron tosses the clothing with an excited grin.
the moment y/n slips it on,
she showcases it with a twirl and a laugh.
sarah spills over with compliments,
telling her how hot she looks.
the compliment paired with y/n's name makes her heart hammer in her chest.
this is only a taste of the intoxicating attention waiting to follow and she's suddenly become a glutton.
the moment they leave the house and pile into the car,
where music spills from the speakers and is left to revel in the night wind,
y/n feels a rush of endorphins make themselves at home in her system;
the animation is clear in her shimmering eyes.
it seems time stops beneath this young woman's arrival to the hottest party of the summer.
the presence of someone as tender, yet alluring, as
y/n demands this kind of anticipation.
will she bless you tonight with her words of cloying gratification?
will she lighten your burdens with a gentle caress?
will she choose you to stand beneath her gaze of understanding innocence?
if what they say about angels walking the earth is true,
all the proof necessary lies in y/n l/n's existence.
the anticipation shatters the moment y/n breaks into a smile and waves to her friends.
though eyes never quite leave her for the rest of the night,
especially hungry ones,
to let curious stares infringe on her time of fun would be a shame.
besides,
it's not like she's surprised.
what does surprise her though,
is that amidst a conversation between herself and kie,
a hand finds the small gap of her back and makes itself at home there.
rafe cameron smiles down at the always so shockingly beautiful woman and greets her with,
"should have known you'd show up with my little sister in tow."
"why waste a good friday night?"
y/n banters with a nearly blinding smile.
rafe finds himself blossoming beneath it,
like a flower finding it's lifeline of the sun above.
"all that matters is you're having a good time."
"always,"
y/n replies with the tilt of her head.
rafe cameron always feels himself soften beneath such a gaze of purity.
it's as if nothing in y/n's existence has turned sweet with rot,
when everyone else seems filled to the brim on their discontent.
"you can go now."
rafe looks up from the haven of y/n's eyes to meet with his little sisters sharp glare.
there was a time in his life,
the time before y/n,
that rafe might've barked back an insult.
instead,
he nods and throws his hands up in pretend surrender.
before he makes his exit,
he leans towards y/n to speak lowly for her ears only.
"let me know if you need anything."
y/n shows an appreciative smile and nods in understanding.
"i will. thank you."
he winks in welcoming then disappears amongst the sea of people who have come to celebrate the weekend.
the night slips by the young kids between the music that thrums through their limbs and the mixed drinks that settle in their livers.
when y/n has one arm thrown around kie and the other thrown around sarah cameron,
she feels a swell of appreciation for her friends and the life they've created together.
where would she be without them?
y/n doesn't even want to wonder.
her life here is perfect.
what could possibly make this night better?
y/n thinks this is the peak,
until a husky voice makes itself known.
"i don't think you've stopped moving this entire night."
though y/n's hands still vibrate with the pulse of the beat by her side,
she stops dancing alongside her friends to give her attention to barry.
"well, i hope you're not coming to parties just to stand still."
barry exhales a chuckle that brings a smile to y/n's lips,
while also inviting weary eyes toward the pair.
"y/n,"
kie begins in a warning.
her hand comes in contact with y/n's arm and gives it a gentle squeeze;
a warning,
y/n realizes.
but for what?
about this man before her?
sure,
the words that follow his name are ones of notable mention,
but isn't there more to what meets the eye?
if she listened to every rumor to follow the people of this island,
she'd be lonely.
why not offer him a chance to clear his name?
"i'll see you around, yeah?"
y/n offers,
to which barry cannot refuse.
"see you around, sunshine."
the moment he's out of earshot and he's faded from y/n's view,
sarah cameron and kie hound her,
