The weapon fidgeted in the snow, confusing Kylo Ren greatly. It continued to do this until it abruptly flew past him, making him duck as it was clasped by another — Rey. The two locked eyes for a moment as Rey examined the weapon and took a stance like the ones she'd take when fighting with her staff. Something told her to place her thumb over the golden block. She did this and ignited the Skywalker lightsaber.
"Get away from him!" Rey ordered, staring intently at Kylo Ren.
"You don't know how to use it. Surrender." Kylo Ren said.
"Not a chance!"
With that, Kylo Ren reignited his lightsaber. Rey found herself scared for a moment but shook such emotions aside as she knew she had a chance given her opponent's weakened state.

Having been sent aboard a transport, General Hux and the admirals of the star destroyers had descended onto D'Qar. Once on Ahvaht Base, Hux saw crusader droids and FN troopers stationed near the ruined hangars. Each officer stood stiffly, parallel from one another. Hux exited the shuttle and took in the scenery that surrounded him; having grown up on the rainy world of Arkanis, the tranquil and warm planet D'Qar would've been a better place to call a homeworld. One naval officer approached Hux. She was a tan-skinned woman, with jet black hair, and dark brown eyes that almost looked black. Her uniform, like many, was a dark navy blue, accompanied by black gloves and boots.
"General, you're needed in the base's command center." She informed him.
"Take me there." Hux responded, before following the officer.
Taking a short bow, the officer led Hux toward one of the hangars and through a ruined door frame, which led down a narrow hall's stone steps. As they walked down the steps, Hux admired the thin roots growing on the stone walls. He touched the roots in appreciation for the vegetation, before continuing his descent down the steps into the command center. In the command center, Captain Ehsan stood looking at the large holotable, as did multiple FN Corps stormtroopers and other officials.
"The Supreme Leader himself wished to make contact with you once the base was besieged." The officer leading Hux told him. "We've reworked the holotable's systems before you landed."
"Excellent." Hux said to the officer.
Said officer dismissed herself, before walking back up the steps.
Hux then flicked a switch on the holotable, which conjured a holographic bust of Supreme Leader Snoke. Like the hologram inside Starkiller Base, the figure of the Supreme Leader was lifelike in color. Hux bowed slightly before the hologram, as did everyone in the room; only Hux rose back up to communicate with Snoke.
"Yes, Supreme Leader?"
"I see the siege of the base was successful; our mole did their job beautifully." Snoke said. "I must also add that your tactics during the battle are nothing to scoff at." He complimented Hux now.
"I'm truly honored, Supreme Leader," Hux bowed again before rising. "And, might I add, while yes, they managed to 'get away,' we have their location at this very moment. We have them tied to the end of a string."
Snoke laughed at this.
"Once again your pragmatism has paid off!" He complimented the General again. "While Organa's little army could give us a problem, I want you to be stationed on the base."
"M-my leader. . ?" Hux asked, confused. "If I am to be stationed here, who will give chase to the fleet?"
"I want you to make an example of the Sentinel soldiers first." The Supreme Leader said. "Then, you are to discuss tactics once our allies show."
Hux nodded in response.
"That also reminds me. . . we have learned that the Sentinels sent a small group to Starkiller and managed to destroy our factory and parts of our weapons armaments. I have instructed several evacuation groups to get everyone off the base, while others will deal with the damage." Snoke told Hux.
"It's unfortunate, but what's a sting in comparison to an explosion?" Hux said back.
"You're correct on that. That will be all for now."
Hux bowed again, before the hologram disappeared.
"Get everything ready. They'll be here shortly." He told the various officers in the room.

Rey then charged at Kylo Ren, only for him to knock Rey's lightsaber away. She took a large swing at Kylo, only for him to dodge it. Kylo Ren began closing the gap between the two, while Rey backed away, looking behind herself to make sure she didn't run into anything. Rey then began swinging wildly to get Kylo Ren to back away as she darted off, running down a hill and almost tripping into a ditch. Kylo Ren slid down the hill and charged at her, going on the offensive once more.
Rey deflected the strikes the best she could, keeping her eyes on the direction the red-yellow blade traveled just as Finn had done.
When Kylo Ren swung, Rey yelped as the blade came close to piercing her leg, but she managed to knock it away and run back up the hill and slice a tree to slow Kylo down. However, Kylo simply stopped the tree with the Force, and threw it aside, sending snow cascading around the two. With grunts of effort, Kylo Ren crawled up the hill and pursued Rey.
Kylo could see that Rey was becoming more and more exhausted, but at the same time, as was he. He felt like he was on the verge of collapsing, while his vision was starting to become hazy, but something inside him kept him from collapsing on the spot. Kylo then swung his lightsaber once more, locking blades with Rey. This time, he used his full weight to make sure the battle would end with his victory. Rey began to strain as she tried not to drop the lightsaber, feeling truly afraid now.
"You need a teacher!" Kylo Ren shouted. "I could show you the ways of the Force!" He offered.
This caught Rey off guard, as she expected him to want to kill her and nothing less. She looked at his face, which looked to be becoming paler every second, and saw that it didn't look malicious in the slightest. However, she couldn't pay this much thought, as she felt the throbbing pain in the back of her head growing, and the freezing cold of the wind and snow taking an effect on her.
"OVER THERE! OVER THERE!" A male's voice exclaimed.
Before Rey lost the strength to hold the lightsaber, she saw Kylo Ren fall to the ground in pain, as he was shot from behind. This left his red-yellow lightsaber to burn at the snow, while Kylo Ren lay there, most likely finally without the strength to move. Rey then deactivated the blue lightsaber and saw who had come to her rescue. It was Iseul's unit with Chewbacca.
"Wait! Don't forget Finn! He's over there!" Rey pointed to the unconscious Sergeant.
Chewbacca then ran over to where Finn was and picked him up, carrying him on his shoulder. The wookie then glanced at the injured Kylo Ren for a moment. A small part of him felt sympathetic for the man he'd known since he was a padawan, but knew this wasn't the time nor the place.
"There he is!" An unknown man, presumably First Order personnel announced.
Before they could find out who it was though, the once again conjoined group had run all the way back to their extraction point.
"D'Qar has been lost; we're without a base." Iseul told Chewbacca and Rey. "We have instructions to rendezvous with the fleet."
Chewbacca roared, stating that he heard the duros loud and clear, before leading Rey back onto the Falcon. Placing Finn on one of the bunk beds on the ship, Rey sat on the lounge area's couch and collapsed onto the cushions, finally sapped of all her strength.
