Chapter 28

The rest of the school week went by as slow as humanly possible. Mike visited Will every single day and Max and Lucas came along some days too.

It was now Sunday and Will still wasn't awake. The last week of school was starting tomorrow. "Nancy I'm leaving!" Mike called out as he walked out of the door. He was going to pick up Holly so they could see Will together.

He parked in front of the house, hoping his dad wasn't home so he wouldn't have to deal with him. After a few minutes he saw his mom come out, holding his sister's hand. She had a tiny, blue suitcase with her too.

Karen approached the car. "Hi Honey, do you think that Holly could stay with you and Nancy for a while?" She asked in a rushed tone.

"Uhm, I'm sure Nancy would be happy to but why?" He asked, worriedly.

"I just want her to spend more time with her brother and sister. Mike I have to go. I'll call and check you all tonight, ok?" She kissed her daughter on the forehead. "Be good. Listen to your brother and sister. She sent her inside the car which Mike already had a car seat for. "Bye Michael, thank you!" Karen walked back inside the house.

"I wonder what's going on with her." Mike wondered to himself. "Anyways, you ready to go see Will?" He asked. "Mommy said we should go to Nancy's house and tell her I'm staying." She answered. "Well can't we do that later?"

"No, she said we should do it first." Holly replied.
"Ok fine, then we'll go there first."

"Nancy, I'm back!" Mike called out. "Mike? I thought you were going to the hospital?" Asked Nancy. "Uhm yeah but Mom wanted me to let you know that Holly is gonna stay here for a little while."

"Oh, for how long?" "She didn't say. She seemed kinda in a rush for us to leave." Mike explained.
"Do you think something's wrong?" Nancy wondered. "I mean... I don't know. I'll call and check in later. Me and Holly are gonna go. I'll be back in like an hour or two."

"Ok, bye you two."

Mike pulled into the hospital parking lot and helped Holly out. They went up into the elevator and into the now familiar room. Only this time, it wasn't empty.

"Michael? Hi, Hon." Joyce greeted as she went up from her chair to hug him. He noticed Johnathan sitting in a chair near a window and he glanced at him as he let go of Joyce.

"Hi Will. It's Mike and Holly again, I think she wants to tell you about her day." Holly then walked up next to the bed.

"Hi Minnie, I hope you wake up soon. Mommy says I have to live with Nancy for some days. I don't know how many though. She says her and Dad have to talk and I should stay with my brother and sister so I won't hear it. And-"

"Holly," Mike cut her off, "I don't think that's good news. We're supposed to share good news with Will right?"

"Right. I'm sorry Minnie." She apologized.

"Minnie?" Johnathan questioned.

"Will and Holly would always call each other by names from Mickey Mouse whenever he came over." He answered with a smile. "Oh, I didn't know they were close. That's cute." He replied.

"Hey, uh how about me and my mom give you a few minutes, huh? We have some phone calls to make anyways." Johnathan suggested as he got up towards the door. "Oh, I wouldn't want to drive you guys out." Mike answered. "No, it's fine, I promise. Come on Mom." Johnathan finished as they walked out of the room together.

"So do you have something you're going to say to Will, Mike?" Holly asked him.

Now that he really looked at him, Will was looking a whole lot better- Well maybe not a whole lot. He still looked similar to a zombie but at least his color was coming back. And he's still skinny but then again he's being fed through a tube. Mike got closer.
