Always and Forever

Chapter 16

*Ella’s POV*

Jake fell asleep as soon as he closed his eyes. I was so scared when I saw him. Whatever happened in that house had a big effect on him but now he was alright. He needed sleep.

His head was on my lap and I was caressing his hair, trying to relax him. Looks like it was working because he was sleeping like a baby… Well, he is a big baby sometimes.

Thankfully my phone was nearby, I took it and called Richy and Jessy and told them that today I had to go somewhere and I couldn’t meet them at my apartment. Thankfully they agreed without further questions. I put my phone aside and continued caressing Jake’s hair. Soon I fell asleep too.

After a few hours I woke up and Jake was still asleep. Looks like he was really tired. I had to get up and cook us a meal but this definitely wasn't an easy task. How will I get up without waking Jake up?

I was being very careful. It took a few tries but somehow I managed to get up and put Jake’s head on a pillow. Then I got a blanket for him and covered him with it. Once he was warm and comfortable I went to the kitchen and only then I realized how much time had passed. It almost was dinner time and I had nothing ready.

I quickly started cooking and soon delicious roast chicken, mashed potatoes and peas were made. I put everything on the table and went to wake Jake up. Once Jake woke up he looked at me and smiled. It was nice seeing Jake’s smile after everything that happened.

-         How long was I sleeping?

-         Few hours.

-         How am I here?

Before I could say anything I could see his facial expression change, which meant he remembered.

He sat up on the couch and looked at the floor. I sat next to him and hugged him tight. He smiled and kissed my forehead.

-         Thank you, love.

-         No need to thank me, Bluey. Now come up, dinner is ready.

-         Dinner? Was I asleep that long?

-         I feel asleep too, otherwise I would wake you up for lunch. Have you eaten anything the whole day?

-         No.

-         Jake!

-         Have you eaten anything?

-         No…

-         So let’s go and eat then.

He got up from the couch, taking me with him. We ate dinner and washed dishes. Once everything was done we sat down on the couch.

-         Jake, you can sleep in the bed today.

-         No.

-         You need rest. I can sleep on the couch.

-         I said no. I will sleep on the couch.

-         Okay, as you wish.

-         Why aren’t you asking me?

He wasn’t even looking at me while saying that. I knew that something big happened.

-         I thought you didn’t want to talk about it…

-         Love, I don’t want to hide anything from you. But… I’m scared.

-         Why are you scared?
