*Jake’s POV*

Last night Nathan went to my apartment and got me all the equipment I needed. I got everything set up in the living room and started looking for any information about Joseph. I was working when Nathan came to the room. I didn’t really want to talk to him even though he saved my life. He sat down on the couch and watched me.

-         Once again, thank you for saving my life, but this doesn’t mean I will call you “father” or let you control my life. So let’s all go back to our lives and I promise you, I will leave as soon as I finish my work here.

-         Jacob, you are my son. Whatever you’re planning, I want to help you. I understand that Ella was your fiance and you wanted to take-

-         Wife.

-         What?

-         You said fiance. She was my wife.

-         Jake, you didn’t even get married.

-         And what?

-         I understand that right now you love her, but after some time I’m sure there will be someone who you’ll love even more than her.

-         How dare you.

-         Jacob…

-         Ella is my wife, a girl who I will love till the end of my life. Only one I can ever love. She gave meaning to my existence. I was lost soul when she wasn’t in my life. Even after her death, she has part of me. She’s buried with my last name. How dare you tell me that I will forget Ella, my wife and fall in love with someone else?

-         You think like this right now, because you just lost her. Believe me, the more time passes the more…

-         I’m not like you!

None of us said anything after my last words. We just looked at each other in complete silence. Thankfully Daniel exactly then decided to come to the house.

When I heard a knock on the door I got up from the seat and went to open it. When Daniel saw me, he smiled sadly and waved his hand at me. I nodded and motioned for him to come inside. He didn’t waste any second and came inside. I closed the door and followed him just to see him frozen at the entrance. He pointed at Nathan and looked at me.

-         What is he doing here?

-         Yeah, I don’t want him here either.

When Daniel raised his eyebrows I saw clearly that he wasn’t satisfied with this answer. I sighed and told him everything that happened. He didn’t believe that Nathan did this… at least without any catch.

Sometimes I wonder why he did this, too. He keeps saying that I am his son and he is my father but whatever, I don’t believe his words anyways. But for now all I can think about is that Joseph, and Nathan’s house is a pretty protected place to stay for a bit.
Daniel listened carefully to my story and when I finished he just nodded his head. But something was telling me that he didn’t believe in Nathan’s “Fatherly love” and I agreed with him.

Nathan unexpectedly got up from the couch and left the house saying he had some work to do. For me it was better that way. I felt really uncomfortable around him, now me and Daniel could talk normally. I took my laptop from the table and as I was sitting on the couch next to Daniel, I gave him the laptop, showing him a picture of Matthew.

-         This is Matthew Clarko, the person who… shot us.

-         I know… Alan talked about this.
