• Sickness
• Some angst
• Cute cuddling cats (CCC)A:N: This cat is so underrated that it hurts my soul. He was such a good character during the short time we had with him. Rest In Peace, Flametail.

You sneezed for what must have been the seventh time in the past thirty seconds, groaning and wiping your nose with a paw.
It was the second day in a row you had been suffering from some sort of cold-like ailment, and it didn't seem to be clearing up.
Flametail —who had been rummaging through his herb store— poked his head out from the gap into the stone wall, sighing. "I've tried every herb known to cure your sickness, (Y/N)—At least, every herb known in ShadowClan territory. I think you're just going to have to let it go away on it's own."
If you were being honest with yourself, that news was crushing to you. You didn't want to lay in Flametail's den all day, inhaling the pungent odor of herbs and having your freshkill delivered to you by apprentices; you wanted to go on hunting patrols and race your clanmates through the pine forest.
Distant chatter caught your attention, and you raised your head to see outside of the medicine den to see Tigerheart, Dawnpelt, Scorchfur, and Ratscar leaving camp, their voices high as laughter rippled from them in waves.
It's like they don't even notice I'm gone.
You sighed, your breath coming out shaky from trying to hold back tears.
Flametail slowly padded up beside you, sitting down and gently touching your shoulder with his tail tip. "They miss you, (Y/N)," He reassured you. "They're just trying not to think about it too much."You blinked, tears slipping down your cheeks. You supposed what he was saying made sense in a way, but that didn't make it any less painful.
"I hate being sick," You mumbled tiredly, resting your head once more. "No offense, but I'd rather be anywhere but here right now."Flametail only smiled, an amused huff leaving his nose. He turned to look down at you, his blue eyes shining like the light the setting sun cast on the lake.
"Well, I'm glad you're here, (Y/N). Not because you're sick, but because I like spending time with you."You turned your head, adamant on concealing your reddening nose. You knew that Flametail considered you an acquaintance, but you never knew he thoroughly enjoyed your company as a good friend would.
"Thanks, Flametail," You replied quietly, a small smile creeping onto your lips. "I appreciate that."
You both sat in blissful silence after that, just watching your clanmates pass by in flickers of colors until the sun began to shine through the thick pines and the day's shadow stretched across the camp."What a day," Flametail meowed, his jaws stretching wide-open in a massive yawn. "I can't wait to fall asleep. It feels like days since I've seen my nest." Suddenly, the ginger ton blinked, slowly turning to look at you.
You met his gaze in return, lifting a quizzical eyebrow.
"Ha... Hey, (Y/N)... Maybe you want some company tonight? You know, so you don't get too cold..."You weren't as surprised as you supposed you should've been, but that's not to say you didn't like where this was going.
"I would love that." You meowed simply, scooting over so Flametail could lay down next to you. He did, and you immediately felt the rush of comfort that you had been longing for.
"Thank you," You murmured, resting your head and turning your face so it was brushing against his. "I feel much better now."Flametail smiled, scooting a little closer to you and twining his tail with yours.
"I'm glad. Get some sleep, (Y/N). You can't fight sickness when you're tired."
You couldn't argue with that. Your eyes were starting to feel heavy, so you finally allowed them to close.
Maybe being sick isn't so bad, after all.****
I know this one sort of mirrored every one-shot ever written in the history of one-shots, but it's late and I'm tired XD
Let's normalize authors writing late-night one-shots with minimal effort. Lol
Thanks for reading, everyone. I appreciate you all
